Acts Chapter 11

4 said unto him, Arise, and go to the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one named Saul, a man of Tarsus: for behold, he prayeth;

5 and he hath seen a man named Ananias coming in, and laying his hands on him, that he might receive his sight.

6 But Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard from many of this man, how much evil he did to thy saints at Jerusalem:

7 and here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call upon thy name.

8 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles and kings, and the children of Israel:

9 for I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

10 And Ananias departed, and entered into the house; and laying his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord,

11 even Jesus, who appeared unto thee in the way which thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

12 And straightway there fell from his eyes as it were scales, and he received his sight; and he arose and was baptized;

13 and he took food and was strengthened.

14 And he was certain days with the disciples that were at Damascus.

15 And straightway in the synagogues he proclaimed Jesus, that he is the Son of God.

16 And all that heard him were amazed, and said, Is not this he that in Jerusalem made havoc of them that called on this name? and he had come hither for this intent, that he might bring them bound before the chief priests.

17 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews that dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.

18 And when many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel together to kill him:

19 but their plot became known to Saul. And they watched the gates also day and night that they might kill him:

20 but his disciples took him by night, and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.

21 And when he was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: and they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

22 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.

23 And he was with them going in and going out at Jerusalem,

24 preaching boldly in the name of the Lord: and he spake and disputed against the Grecian Jews; but they were seeking to kill him.

25 And when the brethren knew it, they brought him down to Cæsarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

26 So the church throughout all Judæa and Galilee and Samaria had peace, being edified; and, walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, was multiplied.

27 And it came to pass, as Peter went throughout all parts, he came down also to the saints that dwelt at Lydda.

28 And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had kept his bed eight years; for he was palsied.

29 And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ healeth thee: arise, and make thy bed. And straightway he arose.

30 And all that dwelt at Lydda and in Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.

16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, John baptised with water, but ye shall be baptised with [the] Holy Spirit.

19 They then who had been scattered abroad through the tribulation that took place on the occasion of Stephen, passed through [the country] to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one but to Jews alone.

20 But there were certain of them, Cyprians and Cyrenians, who entering into Antioch spoke to the Greeks also, announcing the glad tidings of the Lord Jesus.

21 And [the] Lord's hand was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.

22 And the report concerning them reached the ears of the assembly which was in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go through as far as Antioch:

23 who, having arrived and seeing the grace ofGod, rejoiced, and exhorted all with purpose of heart to abide with the Lord;

24 for he was a good man and full of [the] Holy Spirit and of faith; and a large crowd [of people] were added to the Lord.

25 And he went away to Tarsus to seek out Saul.

26 And having found [him], he brought him to Antioch. And so it was with them that for a whole year they were gathered together in the assembly and taught a large crowd: and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

27 Now in these days prophets went down from Jerusalem to Antioch;

28 and one from among them, by name Agabus, rose up and signified by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine over all the inhabited earth, which also came to pass under Claudius.

29 And they determined, according as any one of the disciples was well off, each of them to send to the brethren who dwelt in Judaea, to minister [to them];

30 which also they did, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.

19 They therefore who were scattered abroad by the oppression that arose about Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews only.

20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.

21 The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.

22 The report concerning them came to the ears of the assembly which was in Jerusalem. They sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch,

23 who, when he had come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad. He exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they should remain near to the Lord.

A long, long time ago, there was nothing at all - no earth, no sky, no animals, no people. It was all dark and empty. But God was there! God is so powerful that He can make anything just by speaking. So God said "Let there be light!" and BOOM! There was light everywhere! God saw that the light was beautiful and good. He called the light "day" and the darkness "night." This was the very first day when God started making our wonderful world!

Before anything existed - no planets, stars, or life - God decided to create the universe. The earth started out as a dark, empty place covered with water. But God's Spirit was there, ready to bring order and beauty to everything. When God spoke and said "Let there be light," light immediately appeared because God's words have incredible power.
