John Chapter 14

7 The multitude therefore answered him, We have heard out of the law that the Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

8 Jesus therefore said unto them, Yet a little while is the light among you. Walk while ye have the light, that darkness overtake you not: and he that walketh in the darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

9 While ye have the light, believe on the light, that ye may become sons of light.

10 These things spake Jesus, and he departed and hid himself from them.

11 But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they believed not on him:

12 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake,

13 Lord, who hath believed our report?

14 And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

15 For this cause they could not believe, for that Isaiah said again,

16 He hath blinded their eyes, and he hardened their heart;

17 Lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart,

18 And should turn,

19 And I should heal them.

20 These things said Isaiah, because he saw his glory; and he spake of him.

21 Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess

22 it, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

23 for they loved the glory

24 that is of men more than the glory

25 that is of God.

26 And Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

27 And he that beholdeth me beholdeth him that sent me.

28 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me may not abide in the darkness.

29 And if any man hear my sayings, and keep them not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

30 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my sayings, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I spake, the same shall judge him in the last day.

31 For I spake not from myself; but the Father that sent me, he hath given me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

11 Believe me that I [am] in the Father and the Father in me; but if not, believe me for the works' sake themselves.

12 Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes on me, the works which I do shall he do also, and he shall do greater than these, because I go to the Father.

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, this will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

16 And I will beg the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever,

17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him nor know him; but ye know him, for he abides with you, and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you orphans, I am coming to you.

19 Yet a little and the world sees me no longer; but ye see me; because I live ye also shall live.

20 In that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

21 He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; but he that loves me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him.

22 Judas, not the Iscariote, says to him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself to us and not to the world?

23 Jesus answered and said to him, If any one love me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our abode with him.

24 He that loves me not does not keep my words; and the word which ye hear is not mine, but [that] of the Father who has sent me.

25 These things I have said to you, abiding with you;

26 but the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and will bring to your remembrance all the things which I have said to you.

27 I leave peace with you; I give my peace to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it fear.

28 Ye have heard that I have said unto you, I go away and I am coming to you. If ye loved me ye would rejoice that I go to the Father, for [my] Father is greater than I.

29 And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it shall have come to pass ye may believe.

30 I will no longer speak much with you, for the ruler of the world comes, and in me he has nothing;

31 but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father has commanded me, thus I do. Rise up, let us go hence.

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, what has happened that you are about to reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

24 He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.

25 “I have said these things to you while still living with you.

26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

28 You heard how I told you, ‘I am going away, and I will come back to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced because I said ‘I am going to my Father;’ for the Father is greater than I.

29 Now I have told you before it happens so that when it happens, you may believe.

30 I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me.

31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do. Arise, let’s go from here.

A long, long time ago, there was nothing at all - no earth, no sky, no animals, no people. It was all dark and empty. But God was there! God is so powerful that He can make anything just by speaking. So God said "Let there be light!" and BOOM! There was light everywhere! God saw that the light was beautiful and good. He called the light "day" and the darkness "night." This was the very first day when God started making our wonderful world!

Before anything existed - no planets, stars, or life - God decided to create the universe. The earth started out as a dark, empty place covered with water. But God's Spirit was there, ready to bring order and beauty to everything. When God spoke and said "Let there be light," light immediately appeared because God's words have incredible power. God looked at the light and was pleased with what He had made. He organized time by separating light (day) from darkness (night), creating the first 24-hour period.
