For there is nothing hid, save that it should be manifested; neither was

anything made secret, but that it should come to light.
3
If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear.
4
And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete it shall be measured unto you; and more shall be given unto you.
5
For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath.
6
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed upon the earth;
7
and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, he knoweth not how.
8
The earth beareth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
9
But when the fruit is ripe, straightway he putteth forth the sickle, because the harvest is come.
10
And he said, How shall we liken the kingdom of God? or in what parable shall we set it forth?
11
It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown upon the earth, though it be less than all the seeds that are upon the earth,
12
yet when it is sown, groweth up, and becometh greater than all the herbs, and putteth out great branches; so that the birds of the heaven can lodge under the shadow thereof.
13
And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it;
14
and without a parable spake he not unto them: but privately to his own disciples he expounded all things.
15
And on that day, when even was come, he saith unto them, Let us go over unto the other side.
16
And leaving the multitude, they take him with them, even as he was, in the boat. And other boats were with him.
17
And there ariseth a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the boat, insomuch that the boat was now filling.
18
And he himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion: and they awake him, and say unto him, Teacher, carest thou not that we perish?
19
And he awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
20
And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful? have ye not yet faith?
21
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
22
And they came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes.
23
And when he was come out of the boat, straightway there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
24
who had his dwelling in the tombs: and no man could any more bind him, no, not with a chain;
25
because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been rent asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: and no man had strength to tame him.
26
And always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones.
27
And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshipped him;
28
and crying out with a loud voice, he saith, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, torment me not.
29
For he said unto him, Come forth, thou unclean spirit, out of the man.
30
And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith unto him, My name is Legion; for we are many.
31
And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
32
Now there was there on the mountain side a great herd of swine feeding.
33
And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
34
And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the sea,
35
in number about two thousand; and they were drowned in the sea.
36
And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they came to see what it was that had come to pass.
37
And they come to Jesus, and behold him that was possessed with demons sitting, clothed and in his right mind,
38
even him that had the legion: and they were afraid.
39
And they that saw it declared unto them how it befell him that was possessed with demons, and concerning the swine.
40
And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.
41
And as he was entering into the boat, he that had been possessed with demons besought him that he might be with him.
42
And he suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go to thy house unto thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and
43
how he had mercy on thee.

And immediately on his going out of the ship there met him out of the tombs a man possessed by an unclean spirit,

who had his dwelling in the tombs; and no one was able to bind him, not even with chains;

because he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been torn asunder by him, and the fetters were shattered; and no one was able to subdue him.

And continually night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying and cutting himself with stones.

But seeing Jesus from afar off, he ran and did him homage,
7
and crying with a loud voice he says, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of the Most HighGod? I adjure thee byGod, torment me not.
8
For he said to him, Come forth, unclean spirit, out of the man.
9
And he asked him, What is thy name? And he says to him, Legion is my name, because we are many.
10
And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11
Now there was there just at the mountain a great herd of swine feeding;
12
and they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine that we may enter into them.
13
And Jesus [immediately] allowed them. And the unclean spirits going out entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep slope, into the sea (about two thousand), and were choked in the sea.
14
And those that were feeding them fled and reported it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had taken place.
15
And they come to Jesus, and they see the possessed of demons sitting [and] clothed and sensible, [him] that had had the legion: and they were afraid.
16
And they that had seen [it] related to them how it had happened to the [man] possessed by demons, and concerning the swine.
17
And they began to beg him to depart from their coasts.
18
And as he went on board ship, the man that had been possessed by demons besought him that he might be with him.
19
And he suffered him not, but says to him, Go to thine home to thine own people, and tell them how great things the Lord has done for thee, and has had mercy on thee.
20
And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.
21
And Jesus having passed over in the ship again to the other side, a great crowd gathered to him; and he was by the sea.
22
And [behold] there comes one of the rulers of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and seeing him, falls down at his feet;
23
and he besought him much, saying, My little daughter is at extremity; [I pray] that thou shouldest come and lay thy hands upon her so that she may be healed, and may live.
24
And he went with him, and a large crowd followed him and pressed on him.
25
And a certain woman who had had a flux of blood twelve years,
26
and had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent everything she had and had found no advantage from it, but had rather got worse,
27
having heard concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind and touched his clothes;
28
for she said, If I shall touch but his clothes I shall be healed.
29
And immediately her fountain of blood was dried up, and she knew in her body that she was cured from the scourge.
30
And immediately Jesus, knowing in himself the power that had gone out of him, turning round in the crowd said, Who has touched my clothes?
31
And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the crowd pressing on thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32
And he looked round about to see her who had done this.
33
But the woman, frightened and trembling, knowing what had taken place in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34
And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith has healed thee; go in peace, and be well of thy scourge.
35
While he was yet speaking, they come from the ruler of the synagogue's [house], saying, Thy daughter has died, why troublest thou the teacher any further?
36
But Jesus [immediately], having heard the word spoken, says to the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not; only believe.
37
And he suffered no one to accompany him save Peter and James, and John the brother of James.
38
And he comes to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and sees the tumult, and people weeping and wailing greatly.
39
And entering in he says to them, Why do ye make a tumult and weep? the child has not died, but sleeps.
40
And they derided him. But he, having put [them] all out, takes with [him] the father of the child, and the mother, and those that were with him, and enters in where the child was lying.
41
And having laid hold of the hand of the child, he says to her, Talitha koumi, which is, interpreted, Damsel, I say to thee, Arise.
42
And immediately the damsel arose and walked, for she was twelve years old. And they were astonished with great astonishment.
43
And he charged them much that no one should know this; and he desired that [something] should be given her to eat.

Erat autem ibi circa montem grex porcorum magnus, pascens.

Et deprecabantur eum spiritus, dicentes: Mitte nos in porcos ut in eos introeamus.
13
Et concessit eis statim Iesus. Et exeuntes spiritus immundi introierunt in porcos: et magno impetu grex præcipitatus est in mare ad duo millia, et suffocati sunt in mari.
14
Qui autem pascebant eos, fugerunt, et nunciaverunt in civitatem, et in agros. Et egressi sunt videre quid esset factum:
15
et veniunt ad Iesum: et vident illum, qui a dæmonio vexabatur, sedentem, vestitum, et sanæ mentis, et timuerunt.
16
Et narraverunt illis, qui viderant, qualiter factum esset ei, qui dæmonium habuerat, et de porcis.
17
Et rogare cœperunt eum ut discederet de finibus eorum.
18
Cumque ascenderet navim, cœpit illum deprecari, qui a dæmonio vexatus fuerat, ut esset cum illo,
19
et non admisit eum, sed ait illi: Vade in domum tuam ad tuos, et annuncia illis quanta tibi Dominus fecerit, et misertus sit tui.
20
Et abiit, et cœpit prædicare in Decapoli, quanta sibi fecisset Iesus: et omnes mirabantur.
21
Et cum transcendisset Iesus in navi rursum trans fretum, convenit turba multa ad eum, et erat circa mare.

Et venit quidam de archisynagogis nomine Iairus: et videns eum, procidit ad pedes eius,

et deprecabatur eum multum, dicens: Quoniam filia mea in extremis est, Veni, impone manum super eam, ut salva sit, et vivat.
24
Et abiit cum illo, et sequebatur eum turba multa, et comprimebant eum.
25
Et mulier, quæ erat in profluvio sanguinis annis duodecim,
26
et fuerat multa perpessa a compluribus medicis: et erogaverat omnia sua, nec quidquam profecerat, sed magis deterius habebat:
27
cum audisset de Iesu, venit in turba retro, et tetigit vestimentum eius:
28
dicebat enim: Quia si vel vestimentum eius tetigero, salva ero.
29
Et confestim siccatus est fons sanguinis eius: et sensit corpore quia sanata esset a plaga.
30
Et statim Iesus in semetipso cognoscens virtutem, quæ exierat de illo, conversus ad turbam, aiebat: Quis tetigit vestimenta mea?
31
Et dicebant ei discipuli sui: Vides turbam comprimentem te, et dicis: Quis me tetigit?
32
Et circumspiciebat videre eam, quæ hoc fecerat.
33
Mulier vero timens et tremens, sciens quod factum esset in se, venit et procidit ante eum, et dixit ei omnem veritatem.
34
Ille autem dixit ei: Filia, fides tua te salvam fecit: vade in pace, et esto sana a plaga tua.
35
Adhuc eo loquente, veniunt ab archisynagogo, dicentes: Quia filia tua mortua est: quid ultra vexas Magistrum?
36
Iesus autem audito verbo, quod dicebatur, ait archisynagogo: Noli timere: tantummodo crede.
37
Et non admisit quemquam se sequi nisi Petrum, et Iacobum, et Ioannem fratrem Iacobi.
38
Et veniunt in domum archisynagogi, et videt tumultum, et flentes, et eiulantes multum.
39
Et ingressus, ait illis: Quid turbamini, et ploratis? puella non est mortua, sed dormit.
40
Et irridebant eum. Ipse vero eiectis omnibus assumit patrem, et matrem puellæ, et qui secum erant, et ingreditur ubi puella erat iacens.
41
Et tenens manum puellæ, ait illi: Talitha cumi, quod est interpretatum: Puella (tibi dico) surge.
42
et confestim surrexit puella, et ambulabat: erat autem annorum duodecim: et obstupuerunt stupore magno.
43
Et præcepit illis vehementer ut nemo id sciret: et dixit dari illi manducare.

All the demons begged him, saying, “Send us into the pigs, that we may enter into them.”

At once Jesus gave them permission. The unclean spirits came out and entered into the pigs. The herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned in the sea.
14
Those who fed the pigs fled, and told it in the city and in the country. The people came to see what it was that had happened.
15
They came to Jesus, and saw him who had been possessed by demons sitting, clothed, and in his right mind, even him who had the legion; and they were afraid.
16
Those who saw it declared to them what happened to him who was possessed by demons, and about the pigs.
17
They began to beg him to depart from their region.
18
As he was entering into the boat, he who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him.
19
He didn’t allow him, but said to him, “Go to your house, to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he had mercy on you.”
20
He went his way, and began to proclaim in Decapolis how Jesus had done great things for him, and everyone marveled.
21
When Jesus had crossed back over in the boat to the other side, a great multitude was gathered to him; and he was by the sea.

Behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, came; and seeing him, he fell at his feet

and begged him much, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Please come and lay your hands on her, that she may be made healthy, and live.”
24
He went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and they pressed upon him on all sides.

Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
30
Immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
31
His disciples said to him, “You see the multitude pressing against you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’”
32
He looked around to see her who had done this thing.
33
But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34
He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be cured of your disease.”
35
While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler’s house, saying, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher any more?”
36
But Jesus, when he heard the message spoken, immediately said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.”
37
He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
38
He came to the synagogue ruler’s house, and he saw an uproar, weeping, and great wailing.
39
When he had entered in, he said to them, “Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead, but is asleep.”
40
They ridiculed him. But he, having put them all out, took the father of the child, her mother, and those who were with him, and went in where the child was lying.
41
Taking the child by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha cumi!” which means, being interpreted, “Girl, I tell you, get up!”
42
Immediately the girl rose up and walked, for she was twelve years old. They were amazed with great amazement.
43
He strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and commanded that something should be given to her to eat.

and immediately Jesus gave them leave, and having come forth, the unclean spirits did enter into the swine, and the herd did rush down the steep place to the sea--and they were about two thousand--and they were choked in the sea.

And those feeding the swine did flee, and told in the city, and in the fields, and they came forth to see what it is that hath been done;
15
