1 The disciples say unto him, If the case of the man is so with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.
2 But he said unto them, Not all men can receive this saying, but they to whom it is given.
3 For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
4 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should lay his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
5 But Jesus said, Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for to such belongeth the kingdom of heaven.
6 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
7 And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
8 And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.
9 He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
10 Honor thy father and thy mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
11 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I observed: what lack I yet?
12 Jesus said unto him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell that which thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
13 But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sorrowful; for he was one that had great possessions.
14 And Jesus said unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.
15 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
16 And when the disciples heard it, they were astonished exceedingly, saying, Who then can be saved?
17 And Jesus looking upon
18 them said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
19 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee; what then shall we have?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
21 And every one that hath left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.
22 But many shall be last
23 that are first; and first
24 that are last.
25 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that was a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard.
26 And when he had agreed with the laborers for a shilling a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
27 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing in the marketplace idle;
28 and to them he said, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.
29 Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise.
30 And about the eleventh
31 hour he went out, and found others standing; and he saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
32 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard.
33 And when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the laborers, and pay them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
34 And when they came that
35 were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a shilling.
36 And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received every man a shilling.
37 And when they received it, they murmured against the householder,
38 saying, These last have spent
39 but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.
40 But he answered and said to one of them, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a shilling?
41 Take up that which is thine, and go thy way; it is my will to give unto this last, even as unto thee.
42 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? or is thine eye evil, because I am good?
43 So the last shall be first, and the first last.
44 And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples apart, and on the way he said unto them,
45 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and scribes; and they shall condemn him to death,
46 and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify: and the third day he shall be raised up.

2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,
3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come.
4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast.
5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce.
6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew [them].
7 And [when] the king [heard of it he] was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy;
9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast.
10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests.
11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment.
12 And he says to him, [My] friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless.
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
15 Then went the Pharisees and held a council how they might ensnare him in speaking.
16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way ofGod in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men's person;
17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites?
19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius.
20 And he says to them, Whose [is] this image and superscription?
21 They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what isGod's toGod.
22 And when they heard [him], they wondered, and left him, and went away.
23 On that day came to him Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they demanded of him,
24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother.
25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.
26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.
27 And last of all the woman also died.
28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?
29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power ofGod.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels ofGod in heaven.
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read what was spoken to you byGod, saying,
32 I am theGod of Abraham, and theGod of Isaac, and theGod of Jacob?God is notGod of [the] dead, but of [the] living.
33 And when the crowds heard [it] they were astonished at his doctrine.
34 But the Pharisees, having heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, were gathered together.
35 And one of them, a lawyer, demanded, tempting him, and saying,
36 Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 And he said to him, Thou shalt love [the] Lord thyGod with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy understanding.
38 This is [the] great and first commandment.
39 And [the] second is like it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments the whole law and the prophets hang.
41 And the Pharisees being gathered together, Jesus demanded of them,
42 saying, What think ye concerning the Christ? whose son is he? They say to him, David's.
43 He says to them, How then does David in Spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand until I put thine enemies under thy feet?
45 If therefore David call him Lord, how is he his son?
46 And no one was able to answer him a word, nor did any one dare from that day to question him any more.

32 Ego sum Deus Abraham, et Deus Isaac, et Deus Iacob? Non est Deus mortuorum, sed viventium.
33 Et audientes turbæ, mirabantur in doctrina eius.
34 Pharisæi autem audientes quod silentium imposuisset Sadducæis, convenerunt in unum:

12 and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.

15 Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.
16 They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach; for you aren’t partial to anyone.
17 Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?
19 Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.
20 He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”
21 They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
22 When they heard it, they marveled, and left him and went away.
23 On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,
24 saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.’

32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”
33 When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.
34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.
35 One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
40 The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,
42 saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”
43 He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’?
45 “If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”
46 No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forward.

13 `Then said the king to the ministrants, Having bound his feet and hands, take him up and cast forth to the outer darkness, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth;
14 for many are called, and few chosen.'
15 Then the Pharisees having gone, took counsel how they might ensnare him in words,
16 and they send to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, `Teacher, we have known that thou art true, and the way of God in truth thou dost teach, and thou art not caring for any one, for thou dost not look to the face of men;
17 tell us, therefore, what dost thou think? is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?'
