1
It will be foul weather to-day: for the heaven is red and lowering. Ye know how to discern the face of the heaven; but ye cannot
2
discern the signs of the times.
3
An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of Jonah. And he left them, and departed.
4
And the disciples came to the other side and forgot to take bread.
5
And Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
6
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, We took no bread.
7
And Jesus perceiving it said, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have no bread?
8
Do ye not yet perceive, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
9
Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10
How is it that ye do not perceive that I spake not to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
11
Then understood they that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
12
Now when Jesus came into the parts of Cæsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that the Son of man is?
13
And they said, Some
14
say John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
15
He saith unto them, But who say ye that I am?
16
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in heaven.
18
And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
19
I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20
Then charged he the disciples that they should tell no man that he was the Christ.
21
From that time began Jesus to show unto his disciples, that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.
22
And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall never be unto thee.
23
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art a stumbling-block unto me: for thou mindest not the things of God, but the things of men.
24
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25
For whosoever would save his life shall lose it: and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26
For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?
27
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds.
28
Verily I say unto you, There are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
29
And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart:
30
and he was transfigured before them; and his face did shine as the sun, and his garments became white as the light.

1
And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, he withdrew from Galilee, and came to the coasts of Judaea beyond the Jordan;
2
and great crowds followed him, and he healed them there.
3
And the Pharisees came to him tempting him, and saying, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
4
But he answering said [to them], Have ye not read that he who made [them], from the beginning made them male and female,
5
and said, On account of this a man shall leave father and mother, and shall be united to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh?
6
so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What thereforeGod has joined together, let not man separate.
7
They say to him, Why then did Moses command to give a letter of divorce and to send [her] away?
8
He says to them, Moses, in view of your hardheartedness, allowed you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it was not thus.
9
But I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, not for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery; and he who marries one put away commits adultery.
10
His disciples say to him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.
11
And he said to them, All cannot receive this word, but those to whom it has been given;
12
for there are eunuchs which have been born thus from [their] mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs of men; and there are eunuchs who have made eunuchs of themselves for the sake of the kingdom of the heavens. He that is able to receive [it], let him receive [it].
13
Then there were brought to him little children that he might lay his hands on them and pray; but the disciples rebuked them.
14
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and do not hinder them from coming to me; for the kingdom of the heavens is of such:
15
and having laid his hands upon them, he departed thence.
16
And lo, one coming up said to him, Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have life eternal?
17
And he said to him, What askest thou me concerning goodness? one is good. But if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.
18
He says to him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19
Honour thy father and thy mother, and Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
20
The young man says to him, All these have I kept; what lack I yet?
21
Jesus said to him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell what thou hast and give to [the] poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.
22
But the young man, having heard the word, went away grieved, for he had large possessions.
23
And Jesus said to his disciples, Verily I say unto you, A rich man shall with difficulty enter into the kingdom of the heavens;
24
and again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to enter a needle's eye than a rich man into the kingdom ofGod.
25
And when the disciples heard [it] they were exceedingly astonished, saying, Who then can be saved?
26
But Jesus, looking on [them], said to them, With men this is impossible; but withGod all things are possible.
27
Then Peter answering said to him, Behold, we have left all things and have followed thee; what then shall happen to us?
28
And Jesus said to them, Verily I say unto you, That ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit down upon his throne of glory, ye also shall sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29
And every one who has left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit life eternal.
30
But many first shall be last, and last first.

1
15
Et cum imposuisset eis manus, abiit inde.
16
Et ecce unus accedens, ait illi: Magister bone, quid boni faciam ut habeam vitam æternam?
17
Qui dixit ei: Quid me interrogas de bono? Unus est bonus, Deus. Si autem vis ad vitam ingredi, serva mandata.
18
Dicit illi: Quæ? Iesus autem dixit: Non homicidium facies: Non adulterabis: Non facies furtum: Non falsum testimonium dices:
19
Honora patrem tuum, et matrem tuam, et diliges proximum tuum sicut teipsum.
20
Dicit illi adolescens: Omnia hæc custodivi a iuventute mea, quid adhuc mihi deest?
21

2
Great multitudes followed him, and he healed them there.
3
Pharisees came to him, testing him and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”
4
He answered, “Haven’t you read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female,
5
and said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh’?
6
So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart.”
7
They asked him, “Why then did Moses command us to give her a certificate of divorce and divorce her?”
8
He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so.
9
I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery.”
10
His disciples said to him, “If this is the case of the man with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.”
11
But he said to them, “Not all men can receive this saying, but those to whom it is given.
12
For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it.”
13
Then little children were brought to him that he should lay his hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.
14
But Jesus said, “Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”
15
He laid his hands on them, and departed from there.
16
Behold, one came to him and said, “Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”
17
He said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
18
He said to him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder.’ ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ ‘You shall not steal.’ ‘You shall not offer false testimony.’
19
‘Honor your father and your mother.’ And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”
20
The young man said to him, “All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?”
21
Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
22
But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions.
23
Jesus said to his disciples, “Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.
24
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”
25
When the disciples heard it, they were exceedingly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
