1
and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys: Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.
2
And your altars shall become desolate, and your sun-images shall be broken; and I will cast down your slain men before your idols.
3
And I will lay the dead bodies of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars.
4
In all your dwelling-places the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your sun-images may be hewn down, and your works may be abolished.
5
And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.
6
Yet will I leave a remnant, in that ye shall have some that escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries.
7
And those of you that escape shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captive, how that I have been broken with their lewd heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which play the harlot after their idols: and they shall loathe themselves in their own sight for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
8
And they shall know that I am Jehovah: I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them.
9
Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Smite with thy hand, and stamp with thy foot, and say, Alas! because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel; for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.
10
He that is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that remaineth and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I accomplish my wrath upon them.
11
And ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the places where they offered sweet savor to all their idols.
12
And I will stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land desolate and waste, from the wilderness toward Diblah, throughout all their habitations: and they shall know that I am Jehovah.
13
Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
14
And thou, son of man, thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto the land of Israel, An end: the end is come upon the four corners of the land.
15
Now is the end upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways; and I will bring upon thee all thine abominations.
16
And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity; but I will bring thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.
17
Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An evil, an only evil; behold, it cometh.
18
An end is come, the end is come; it awaketh against thee; behold, it cometh.
19
Thy doom is come unto thee, O inhabitant of the land: the time is come, the day is near,
20
a day of tumult, and not
21
of joyful shouting, upon the mountains.
22
Now will I shortly pour out my wrath upon thee, and accomplish mine anger against thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways; and I will bring upon thee all thine abominations.
23
And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will bring upon thee according to thy ways; and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I, Jehovah, do smite.
24
Behold, the day, behold, it cometh: thy doom is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.
25
Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness; none of them
26
shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of their wealth: neither shall there be eminency among them.
27
The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn; for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

The end is come, the end is come; it awaketh against thee: behold, it cometh.
7
The doom is come unto thee, inhabitant of the land; the time is come, the day is near, — tumult, and not the joyous cry from the mountains.
8
Now will I soon pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger against thee; and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will bring upon thee all thine abominations.
9
And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will render unto thee according to thy ways, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that it is I, Jehovah, that smite.
10
Behold the day, behold, it is come: the doom is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride is full blown.
11
Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: nothing of them [shall remain], nor of their multitude, nor of their wealth, nor of the magnificence in the midst of them.
12
The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn; for fierce anger is upon all the multitude thereof.
13
For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, even though he were yet alive amongst the living: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof; it shall not be revoked; and none shall through his iniquity assure his life.
14
They have blown the trumpet and made all ready, but none goeth to the battle; for my fierce anger is upon all the multitude thereof.
15
The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die by the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.
16
And they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every one for his iniquity.
17
All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall melt into water.
18
And they shall gird on sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.
19
They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be as an impurity: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of Jehovah's wrath; they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their belly; for it hath been the stumbling-block of their iniquity.
20
And he set in majesty his beautiful ornament; but they made therein the images of their abominations [and] of their detestable things: therefore have I made it an impurity unto them.
21
And I will give it into the hands of strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall profane it.
22
And I will turn my face from them; and they shall profane my secret [place]; and the violent shall enter into it, and profane it.
23
Make the chain; for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.
24
Therefore will I bring the worst of the nations, and they shall possess their houses; and I will make the pride of the strong to cease; and their sanctuaries shall be profaned.
25
Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, but there shall be none.
26
Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; and they shall seek a vision from a prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.
27
The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with dismay, and the hands of the people of the land shall tremble: I will do unto them according to their way, and with their judgments will I judge them; and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Also, thou, son of man, say,

Thus saith the Lord; An end is come to the land of Israel, the end is come on the four corners of the land.
3
The end is come
4
on thee, the inhabitant of the land: the time is come, the day has drawn nigh, not with tumult, nor with pangs.
5
Now I will pour out mine anger upon thee near at hand, and I will accomplish my wrath on thee: and I will judge thee for thy ways, and recompense upon thee all thine abominations.
6
Mine eye shall not spare, nor will I have any mercy: for I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord that smite [thee].
7
Now the end [is come] to thee, and I will send [judgment] upon thee: and I will take vengeance on thy ways, and will recompense all thine abominations upon thee.
8
Mine eye shall not spare, nor will I have any mercy: for I will recompense thy way upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.
9
For thus saith the Lord; Behold, the end is come.
10
Behold, the day of the Lord! although the rod has blossomed,
11
pride has sprung up, and will break the staff of the wicked one, and [that] not with tumult, nor with haste.
12
The time is come, behold the day: let not the buyer rejoice, and let not the seller mourn.
13
For the buyer shall never again return to the seller, neither shall a man cleave with the eye [of hope] to his life.
14
Sound ye the trumpet, and pass sentence on all together.
15
[There shall be] war with the sword without, and famine and pestilence within: he that is in the field shall die by the sword; and famine and pestilence shall destroy them that are in the city.
16
But they that escape of them shall be delivered, and shall be upon the mountains: and I will slay all [the rest], every one for his iniquities.
17
All hands shall be completely weakened, and all thighs shall be defiled with moisture.
18
And they shall gird themselves with sackcloth, and amazement shall cover them; and shame shall be upon them, [even] upon every face, and baldness upon every head.
19
Their silver shall be cast forth in the streets, and their gold shall be despised: their souls shall not be satisfied, and their bellies shall not be filled: for it was the punishment of their iniquities.
20
[As for] their choice ornaments, they employed them for pride, and they made of them images of their abominations: therefore have I made them uncleanness to them.
21
And I will deliver them into the hands of strangers to make them a prey, and to the pests of the earth for a spoil; and they shall profane them.
22
And I will turn away my face from them, and they shall defile my charge, and shall go in to them unguardedly, and profane them.
23
And they shall work uncleanness: because the land is full of strange nations, and the city is full of iniquity.
24
And I will turn back the boasting of their strength; and their holy things shall be defiled.
25
And [though] propitiation shall come, and [one] shall seek peace, yet there shall be none.
26
There shall be woe upon woe, and there shall be message upon message; and a vision shall be sought from a prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.
27
The prince shall clothe himself with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be made feeble: I will do to them according to their ways, and according to their judgments will I punish them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.

1
5
Hæc dicit Dominus Deus: Afflictio una, afflictio ecce venit.
6
finis venit, venit finis, evigilavit adversum te: ecce venit.
7
15
Gladium foris: et pestis, et fames intrinsecus: qui in agro est, gladio morietur: et qui in civitate, pestilentia, et fame devorabuntur.
16
Et salvabuntur qui fugerint ex eis: et erunt in montibus quasi columbæ convallium omnes trepidi, unusquisque in iniquitate sua.
17
Omnes manus dissolventur, et omnia genua fluent aquis.
18
Et accingent se ciliciis, et operiet eos formido, et in omni facie confusio, et in universis capitibus eorum calvitium.
19
27
Rex lugebit, et princeps induetur mœrore, et manus populi terræ conturbabuntur. Secundum viam eorum faciam eis, et secundum iudicia eorum iudicabo eos: et scient quia ego Dominus.

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, `And thou, son of man, Thus said the Lord Jehovah to the ground of Israel:
2
An end, come hath the end on the four corners of the land.
3
Now <FI>is<Fi> the end unto thee, And I have sent Mine anger upon thee, And judged thee according to thy ways, And set against thee all thine abominations.
4
And no pity on thee hath Mine eye, nor do I spare, For thy ways against thee I do set, And thine abominations are in thy midst, And ye have known that I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.
5
Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Evil, a single evil, lo, it hath come.
6
An end hath come, come hath the end, It hath waked for thee, lo, it hath come.
7
Come hath the morning unto thee, O inhabitant of the land! Come hath the time, near <FI>is<Fi> a day of trouble, And not the shouting of mountains.
8
Now, shortly I pour out My fury on thee, And have completed Mine anger against thee, And judged thee according to thy ways, And set against thee all thine abominations.
9
And not pity doth Mine eye, nor do I spare, According to thy ways unto thee I give, And thine abominations are in thy midst, And ye have known that I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah the smiter.
10
Lo, the day, lo, it hath come, Gone forth hath the morning, Blossomed hath the rod, flourished the pride.
11
The violence hath risen to a rod of wickedness, There is none of them, nor of their multitude, Nor of their noise, nor is there wailing for them.
12
Come hath the time, arrived hath the day, The buyer doth not rejoice, And the seller doth not become a mourner, For wrath <FI>is<Fi> unto all its multitude.
13
For the seller to the sold thing turneth not, And yet among the living <FI>is<Fi> their life, For the vision <FI>is<Fi> unto all its multitude, It doth not turn back, And none by his iniquity doth strengthen his life.
14
They have blown with a trumpet to prepare the whole, And none is going to battle, For My wrath <FI>is<Fi> unto all its multitude.
15
The sword <FI>is<Fi> without, And the pestilence and the famine within, He who is in a field by sword dieth, And he who is in a city, Famine and pestilence devour him.
16
And escaped away have their fugitives, And they have been on the mountains As doves of the valleys, All of them make a noising--each for his iniquity.
17
All the hands are feeble, and all knees go--waters.
18
And they have girded on sackcloth, And covered them hath trembling, And unto all faces <FI>is<Fi> shame, And on all their heads--baldness.
19
Their silver into out-places they cast, And their gold impurity becometh. Their silver and their gold is not able to deliver them, In a day of the wrath of Jehovah, Their soul they do not satisfy, And their bowels they do not fill, For the stumbling-block of their iniquity it hath been.
20
As to the beauty of his ornament, For excellency He set it, And the images of their abominations, Their detestable things--they made in it, Therefore I have given it to them for impurity,
21
And I have given it into the hand of the strangers for a prey, And to the wicked of the land for a spoil, And they have polluted it.
22
And I have turned My face from them, And they have polluted My hidden place, Yea, come into it have destroyers, and polluted it.
23
Make the chain; for the land Hath been full of bloody judgments, And the city hath been full of violence.
24
And I have brought in the wicked of the nations, And they have possessed their houses, And I have caused to cease the excellency of the strong, And polluted have been those sanctifying them.
25
Destruction hath come, And they have sought peace, and there is none.
26
Mischief on mischief cometh, and report is on report, And they have sought a vision from a prophet, And law doth perish from the priest, And counsel from the elders,
27
The king doth become a mourner, And a prince putteth on desolation, And the hands of the people of the land are troubled, From their own way I deal with them, And with their own judgments I judge them, And they have known that I <FI> am<Fi> Jehovah!'
