1
Therefore thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because thou art exalted in stature, and he hath set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
2
I will even deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with him; I have driven him out for his wickedness.
3
And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land; and all the peoples of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
4
Upon his ruin all the birds of the heavens shall dwell, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches;
5
to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, neither set their top among the thick boughs, nor that their mighty ones stand up in their height,
6
even all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
7
Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day when he went down to Sheol I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the rivers thereof; and the great waters were stayed; and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
8
I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Sheol with them that descend into the pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the nether parts of the earth.
9
They also went down into Sheol with him unto them that are slain by the sword; yea, they that were his arm,
10
that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the nations.
11
To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with them that are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord Jehovah.
12
And it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first
13
day of the month, that the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
14
Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him, Thou wast likened unto a young lion of the nations: yet art thou as a monster in the seas; and thou didst break forth with thy rivers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and fouledst their rivers.
15
Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will spread out my net upon thee with a company of many peoples; and they shall bring thee up in my net.

1
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
2
Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
3
and say unto it, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand upon thee, and I will make thee a desolation and an astonishment.
4
I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be a desolation: and thou shalt know that I [am] Jehovah.
5
Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast given over the children of Israel to the power of the sword, in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end;
6
therefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will certainly appoint thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee; since thou hast not hated blood, blood shall pursue thee.
7
And I will make mount Seir a desolation and an astonishment, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth;
8
and I will fill his mountains with his slain. In thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy water-courses shall they fall that are slain with the sword.
9
I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not be inhabited: and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah.
10
Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it, whereas Jehovah was there:
11
therefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will even do according to thine anger and according to thine envy, as thou hast done out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I shall judge thee.
12
And thou shalt know that I Jehovah have heard all thy reproaches, which thou hast uttered against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to devour.
13
And ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard [them].
14
Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee a desolation.
15
As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolated, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be a desolation, O mount Seir, and all Edom, the whole of it: and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.

And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2

3
and say to it, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and will make thee a waste, and thou shalt be made desolate.
4
And I will cause desolation in thy cities, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.
5
Because thou hast been a perpetual enemy, and hast laid wait craftily for the house of Israel, with the hand of enemies with a sword, in the time of injustice, at the last:
6
Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, verily thou hast sinned even to blood, therefore blood shall pursue thee.
7
And I will make mount Seir a waste, and desolate, and I will destroy from off it men and cattle:
8
and I will fill thy hills and thy valleys with slain men, and in all thy plains there shall fall in thee men slain with the sword.
9
I will make thee a perpetual desolation, and thy cities shall not be inhabited any more: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.
10
Because thou saidst, The two nations and the two countries shall be mine, and I shall inherit them; whereas the Lord is there:
11
therefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord, I will even deal with thee according to thine enmity, and I will be made known to thee when I shall judge thee:
12
and thou shalt know that I am the Lord. I have heard the voice of thy blasphemies, whereas thou hast said, The desert mountains of Israel are given to us for food;
13
and thou hast spoken swelling words against me with thy mouth: I have heard [them].
14
Thus saith the Lord; When all the earth is rejoicing, I will make thee desert.
15
Thou shalt be desert, O mount Seir, and all Idumea; and it shall be utterly consumed: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord their God.

1
4
Urbes tuas demoliar, et tu desertus eris: et scies quia ego Dominus.
5
Eo quod fueris inimicus sempiternus, et concluseris filios Israel in manus gladii in tempore afflictionis eorum, in tempore iniquitatis extremæ:
6
Propterea vivo ego, dicit Dominus Deus: quoniam sanguini tradam te, et sanguis te persequetur: et cum sanguinem oderis, sanguis persequetur te.
7
13
Et insurrexistis super me ore vestro, et derogastis adversum me verba vestra: ego audivi.
14
Hæc dicit Dominus Deus: Lætante universa terra, in solitudinem te redigam.
15
Sicuti gavisus es super hereditatem domus Israel, eo quod fuerit dissipata, sic faciam tibi: dissipatus eris mons Seir, et Idumæa omnis: et scient quia ego Dominus.

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:
2
`Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
3
and thou hast said to it: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I <FI>am<Fi> against thee, O mount Seir, And have stretched out My hand against thee, And made thee a desolation and an astonishment.
4
Thy cities a waste I make, and thou art a desolation, And thou hast known that I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.
5
Because of thy having an enmity age-during, And thou dost saw the sons of Israel, By the hands of the sword, In the time of their calamity, In the time of the iniquity of the end:
6
Therefore, I live--an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Surely for blood I do appoint thee, And blood doth pursue thee, If blood thou hast not hated, Blood also doth pursue thee.
7
And I have given mount Seir for a desolation and an astonishment, And have cut off from it him who is passing over and him who is returning,
8
And filled his mountains with his wounded, Thy hills, and thy valleys, and all thy streams, The pierced of the sword fall into them.
9
Desolations age-during I make thee, And thy cities do not return, And ye have known that I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.
10
Because of thy saying: The two nations and the two lands are mine, and we have possessed it, And Jehovah hath been there;
11
Therefore, I live--an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And I have done according to thine anger, And according to thine envy, With which thou hast wrought, Because of thy hatred against them, And I have been known among them when I judge thee.
12
And thou hast known that I--Jehovah, I have heard all thy despisings that thou hast spoken Against mountains of Israel, saying: A desolation, to us they were given for food.
13
And ye magnify yourselves against Me with your mouth, And have made abundant against Me your words, I--I have heard.
14
Thus said the Lord Jehovah: According to the rejoicing of the whole land, A desolation I make of thee.
15
According to thy joy at the inheritance of the house of Israel because of desolation, So I do to thee--a desolation thou art, O mount Seir, and all Edom--all of it, And they have known that I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah!
