1 Haran and Canneh and Eden, the traffickers of Sheba, Asshur
2 and Chilmad, were thy traffickers.
3 These were thy traffickers in choice wares, in wrappings of blue and broidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords and made of cedar, among thy merchandise.
4 The ships of Tarshish were thy caravans for thy merchandise: and thou wast replenished, and made very glorious in the heart of the seas.
5 Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the heart of the seas.
6 Thy riches, and thy wares, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the dealers in thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, with all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the heart of the seas in the day of thy ruin.
7 At the sound of the cry of thy pilots the suburbs shall shake.
8 And all that handle the oar, the mariners,
9 and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships; they shall stand upon the land,
10 and shall cause their voice to be heard over thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads; they shall wallow themselves in the ashes:
11 and they shall make themselves bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee in bitterness of soul with bitter mourning.
12 And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee,
13 saying, Who is there like Tyre, like her that is brought to silence in the midst of the sea?
14 When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many peoples; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise.
15 In the time that thou wast broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, thy merchandise and all thy company did fall in the midst of thee.
16 All the inhabitants of the isles are astonished at thee, and their kings are horribly afraid; they are troubled in their countenance.
17 The merchants among the peoples hiss at thee; thou art become a terror, and thou shalt nevermore have any being.

2 Son of man, say unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude: Whom art thou like in thy greatness?
3 Behold, Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon, with fair branches and a shadowing shroud, and of a high stature: and his top was amidst the thick boughs.
4 The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high; its streams ran round about his plantation, and it sent out its rivulets unto all the trees of the field.
5 Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long, because of great waters, when he shot forth.
6 All the fowl of the heavens made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all the great nations.
7 Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: because his root was by great waters.
8 The cedars in the garden ofGod could not hide him; the cypresses were not like his boughs, and the plane-trees were not as his branches: no tree in the garden ofGod was like unto him in his beauty.
9 I had made him fair by the multitude of his branches; and all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden ofGod, envied him.
10 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast lifted up thyself in stature, ...and he hath set his top amidst the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height,
11 I have given him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
12 And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off and have left him; upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken in all the watercourses of the land; and all the peoples of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
13 Upon his fallen [trunk] do all the fowl of the heavens dwell, and all the beasts of the field are upon his branches:
14 to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, nor set their top amidst the thick boughs, and that none of them that drink water stand up in his height by himself; for they are all given over unto death in the lower parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
15 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day when he went down to Sheol, I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed; and I made Lebanon black for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
16 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Sheol, with them that go down into the pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the lower parts of the earth.
17 They also went down into Sheol with him unto them that were slain with the sword, and [that were] his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the nations.
18 To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden, unto the lower parts of the earth; thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with them that are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord Jehovah.

5 Therefore was his stature exalted above all the trees of the field, and his branches spread far by the help of much water.
6 All the birds of the sky made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches all the wild beasts of the field bred; the whole multitude of nations dwelt under his shadow.
7 And he was fair in his height by reason of the multitude of his branches: for his roots were amidst much water.
8 And such cypresses [as this] were in the paradise of God; and there were no pines like his shoots, and there were no firs like his branches: no tree in the paradise of God was like him in his beauty,
9 because of the multitude of his branches: and the trees of God's paradise of delight envied him.
10 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Because thou art grown great, and hast set thy top in the midst of the clouds, and I saw when he was exalted;
11 therefore I delivered him into the hands of the prince of the nations, and he wrought his destruction.
12 And ravaging strangers from the nations have destroyed him, and have cast him down upon the mountains: his branches fell in all the valleys, and his boughs were broken in every field of the land; and all the people of the nations are gone down from their shelter, and have laid him low.
13 All the birds of the sky have settled on his fallen trunk, and all the wild beasts of the field came upon his boughs:
14 in order that none of the trees by the water should exalt themselves by reason of their size: whereas they set their top in the midst of the clouds, yet they continued not in their high state in their place, all that drank water, all were consigned to death, to the depth of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
15 Thus saith the Lord God; In the day wherein he went down to Hades, the deep mourned for him: and I stayed her floods, and restrained her abundance of water: and Libanus saddened for him, all the trees of the field fainted for him.
16 At the sound of his fall the nations quaked, when I brought him down to Hades with them that go down to the pit: and all the trees of Delight comforted him in the heart, and the choice [plants] of Libanus, all that drink water.
17 For they went down to hell with him among the slain with the sword; and his seed, [even] they that dwelt under his shadow, perished in the midst of their life.
18 To whom art thou compared? descend, and be thou debased with the trees of paradise to the depth of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that are slain by the sword. Thus shall Pharao be, and the multitude of his host, saith the Lord God.

9 Quoniam speciosum feci eum, et multis, condensisque frondibus: et æmulata sunt eum omnia ligna voluptatis, quæ erant in paradiso Dei.
10 Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus: Pro eo quod sublimatus est in altitudine, et dedit summitatem suam virentem atque condensam, et elevatum est cor eius in altitudine sua:
11 Tradidi eum in manu fortissimi Gentium, faciens faciet ei: iuxta impietatem eius eieci eum.
12 Et succident eum alieni, et crudelissimi nationum, et proiicient eum super montes, et in cunctis convallibus corruent rami eius, et confringentur arbusta eius in universis rupibus terræ: et recedent de umbraculo eius omnes populi terræ, et relinquent eum.
13 In ruina eius habitaverunt omnia volatilia cæli, et in ramis eius fuerunt universæ bestiæ regionis.
14 Quam ob rem non elevabuntur in altitudine sua omnia ligna aquarum, nec ponent sublimitatem suam inter nemorosa atque frondosa, nec stabunt in sublimitate sua omnia, quæ irrigantur aquis: quia omnes traditi sunt in mortem ad terram ultimam in medio filiorum hominum ad eos, qui descendunt in lacum.
15 Hæc dicit Dominus Deus: In die quando descendit ad inferos, induxi luctum, operui eum abysso: et prohibui flumina eius, et coercui aquas multas: contristatus est super eum Libanus, et omnia ligna agri concussa sunt.
16 A sonitu ruinæ eius commovi Gentes, cum deducerem eum ad infernum cum his, qui descendebant in lacum: et consolata sunt in terra infima omnia ligna voluptatis egregia, atque præclara in Libano, universa quæ irrigabantur aquis.
17 Nam et ipsi cum eo descendent in infernum ad interfectos gladio: et brachium uniuscuiusque sedebit sub umbraculo eius in medio nationum.
18 Cui assimilatus es o inclyte atque sublimis inter ligna voluptatis? Ecce deductus es cum lignis voluptatis ad terram ultimam: in medio incircumcisorum dormies, cum eis, qui interfecti sunt gladio, ipse est Pharao, et omnis multitudo eius, dicit Dominus Deus.

A long, long time ago, there was nothing at all - no earth, no sky, no animals, no people. It was all dark and empty. But God was there! God is so powerful that He can make anything just by speaking. So God said "Let there be light!" and BOOM! There was light everywhere! God saw that the light was beautiful and good. He called the light "day" and the darkness "night." This was the very first day when God started making our wonderful world!

Explain Like I'm 10

Before anything existed - no planets, stars, or life - God decided to create the universe. The earth started out as a dark, empty place covered with water. But God's Spirit was there, ready to bring order and beauty to everything. When God spoke and said "Let there be light," light immediately appeared because God's words have incredible power. God looked at the light and was pleased with what He had made. He organized time by separating light (day) from darkness (night), creating the first 24-hour period. This shows us that God is organized and purposeful in everything He does.
