1
And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight when they went forth, and the wheels beside them: and they stood at the door of the east gate of Jehovah’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
2
This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim.
3
Every one had four faces, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.
4
And as for the likeness of their faces, they were the faces which I saw by the river Chebar, their appearances and themselves; they went every one straight forward.
5
Moreover the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of Jehovah’s house, which looketh eastward: and behold, at the door of the gate five and twenty men; and I saw in the midst of them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.
6
And he said unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise iniquity, and that give wicked counsel in this city;
7
that say,
8
The time is not near to build houses: this
9
city is the caldron, and we are the flesh.
10
Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man.
11
And the Spirit of Jehovah fell upon me, and he said unto me, Speak, Thus saith Jehovah: Thus have ye said, O house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.
12
Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.
13
Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this
14
city is the caldron; but ye shall be brought forth out of the midst of it.
15
Ye have feared the sword; and I will bring the sword upon you, saith the Lord Jehovah.
16
And I will bring you forth out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.
17
Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.
18
This
19
city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; I will judge you in the border of Israel;
20
and ye shall know that I am Jehovah: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither have ye executed mine ordinances, but have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you.
21
And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord Jehovah! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?
22
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
23
Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel, all of them,
24
are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from Jehovah; unto us is this land given for a possession.
25
Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Whereas I have removed them far off among the nations, and whereas I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them a sanctuary for a little while in the countries where they are come.
26
Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will gather you from the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
27
And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.
28
And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh;

1
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
2
Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not, which have ears to hear, and hear not; for they are a rebellious house.
3
And thou, son of man, prepare thee a captive's baggage, and go captive by day in their sight; and thou shalt go captive from thy place to another place in their sight. It may be they will consider, though they are a rebellious house.
4
And bring forth thy baggage by day in their sight, as a captive's baggage, and thou thyself, go forth at even in their sight as they that go forth into captivity.
5
Dig thou through the wall in their sight, and carry out thereby.
6
In their sight shalt thou bear [it] upon [thy] shoulder, and carry it forth in the dark; thou shalt cover thy face, and thou shalt not see the ground: for I have appointed thee for a sign unto the house of Israel.
7
And I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my baggage by day, as a captive's baggage, and in the even I digged through the wall with my hand; I brought it forth in the dark, [and] bore it upon [my] shoulder, in their sight.
8
And in the morning the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
9
Son of man, hath not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said unto thee, What doest thou?
10
Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: This burden [concerneth] the prince in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel that are among them.
11
Say, I am your sign: as I have done, so shall it be done unto them: they shall go into exile, into captivity.
12
And the prince that is among them shall bear upon [his] shoulder in the dark, and shall go forth; they shall dig through the wall to carry out thereby; he shall cover his face, that he see not the land with [his] eyes.
13
And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare; and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; but he shall not see it, and there shall he die.
14
And I will scatter toward every wind all that are about him to help him, and all his troops; and I will draw out the sword after them.
15
And they shall know that I [am] Jehovah when I shall scatter them among the nations and disperse them through the countries.
16
But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the nations whither they shall come; and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.
17
And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying,
18
Son of man, eat thy bread with quaking, and drink thy water with trembling and with anxiety;
19
and say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in the land of Israel: They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink their water with astonishment, because her land shall be left desolate of all that is in it, for the violence of all them that dwell therein.
20
And the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be a desolation; and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah.
21
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
22
Son of man, what is that proverb which ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days shall be prolonged, and every vision faileth?
23
Tell them therefore, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will make this proverb to cease, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel; but say unto them, The days are at hand, and the accomplishment of every vision.
24
For there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination in the midst of the house of Israel.
25
For I [am] Jehovah; I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall be performed, it shall be no more deferred. For in your days, O rebellious house, will I speak the word and will perform it, saith the Lord Jehovah.
26
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
27
Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days, and he prophesieth of times that are far off.
28
Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: There shall none of my words be deferred any more, but the word that I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord Jehovah.

1
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2
Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of the iniquities of those, who have eyes to see, and see not; and have ears to hear, and hear not: because it is a provoking house.
3
Thou therefore, son of man, prepare thyself baggage for going into captivity by day in their sight; and thou shalt be led into captivity from thy place into another place in their sight; that they may see that it is a provoking house.
4
And thou shalt carry forth thy baggage, baggage for captivity, by day before their eyes: and thou shalt go forth at even, as a captive goes forth, in their sight.
5
Dig for thyself into the wall [of the house], and thou shalt pass through it in their sight:
6
thou shalt be lifted up on [men's] shoulders, and shalt go forth in secret: thou shalt cover thy face, and shalt not see the ground: because I have made thee a sign to the house of Israel.
7
And I did thus according to all that he commanded me; and I carried forth my baggage for captivity by day, and in the evening I dug through the wall for myself, and went out secretly; I was taken up on [men's] shoulders before them.
8
And the word of the Lord came to me in the morning, saying,
9
Son of man, have not the house of Israel, the provoking house, said to thee, What doest thou?
10
Say to them, Thus saith the Lord God, the Prince and the Ruler in Israel, even to all the house of Israel who are in the midst of them:
11
say, I am performing signs: as I have done, so shall it be to him: they shall go into banishment and captivity.
12
And the prince in the midst of them shall be borne upon shoulders, and shall go forth in secret through the wall, and shall dig so that he may go forth thereby: he shall cover his face, that he may not be seen by [any] eye, and he himself shall not see the ground.
13
And I will spread out my net upon him, and he shall be caught in my toils: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; but he shall not see it, though he shall die there.
14
And I will scatter to every wind all his assistants round about him, and all that help him; and I will draw out a sword after them.
15
And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have scattered them among the nations; and I will disperse them in the countries.
16
And I will leave of them [a few] men in number [spared] from the sword, and from famine, and from pestilence; that they may declare all their iniquities among the nations whither they have gone; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
17
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
18
Son of man, eat thy bread with sorrow, and drink [thy] water with torment and affliction.
19
And thou shalt say to the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord to the inhabitants of Jerusalem on the land of Israel; They shall eat their bread in scarcity, and shall drink their water in desolation, that the land may be desolate with all that it contains: for all that dwell in it are ungodly.
20
And their inhabited cities shall be laid utterly waste, and the land shall be desolate; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
21
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
22
Son of man, what is your parable on the land of Israel, that ye say, The days are long, the vision has perished?
23
Therefore say to them, Thus saith the Lord; I will even set aside this parable, and the house of Israel shall no more at all use this parable: for thou shalt say to them, The days are at hand, and the import of every vision.
24
For there shall no more be any false vision, nor any one prophesying flatteries in the midst of the children of Israel.
25
For I the Lord will speak my words; I will speak and perform [them], and will no more delay, for in your days, O provoking house, I will speak the word, and will perform [it], saith the Lord.
26
Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
27
Son of man, behold, the provoking house of Israel boldly say, The vision which this man sees is for many days, and he prophesies for times afar off.
28
Therefore say to them, Thus saith the Lord; Henceforth none of my words shall linger, which I shall speak: I will speak and do, saith the Lord.

1
6
In conspectu eorum in humeris portaberis, in caligine effereris: faciem tuam velabis, et non videbis terram. quia portentum dedi te domui Israel.
7
Feci ergo sicut præceperat mihi Dominus: vasa mea protuli quasi vasa transmigrantis per diem: et vespere perfodi mihi parietem manu: et in caligine egressus sum, in humeris portatus in conspectu eorum.
8
11
Dic: Ego portentum vestrum: quomodo feci, sic fiet illis. in transmigrationem, et in captivitatem ibunt.
12
15
Et scient quia ego Dominus, quando dispersero illos in Gentibus, et disseminavero eos in terris.
16
27
Fili hominis, ecce domus Israel dicentium: Visio, quam hic videt, in dies multos: et in tempora longa iste prophetat.
28
Propterea dic ad eos: Hæc dicit Dominus Deus: Non prolongabitur ultra omnis sermo meus: verbum, quod locutus fuero, complebitur, dicit Dominus Deus.

The LORD’s word also came to me, saying,

“Son of man, you dwell in the middle of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see, and don’t see, who have ears to hear, and don’t hear; for they are a rebellious house.

“Therefore, you son of man, prepare your baggage for moving, and move by day in their sight. You shall move from your place to another place in their sight. It may be they will consider, though they are a rebellious house.

You shall bring out your baggage by day in their sight, as baggage for moving. You shall go out yourself at evening in their sight, as when men go out into exile.

Dig through the wall in their sight, and carry your baggage out that way.

In their sight you shall bear it on your shoulder, and carry it out in the dark. You shall cover your face, so that you don’t see the land, for I have set you for a sign to the house of Israel.”

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,
2
`Son of man, in the midst of the rebellious house thou art dwelling, that have eyes to see, and they have not seen; ears they have to hear, and they have not heard; for a rebellious house <FI>are<Fi> they.
3
And thou, son of man, make to thee vessels of removal, and remove by day before their eyes, and thou hast removed from thy place unto another place before their eyes, it may be they consider, for a rebellious house they <FI>are<Fi> .
4
And thou hast brought forth thy vessels as vessels of removal by day before their eyes, and thou, thou dost go forth at even before their eyes, as the goings forth of a removal.
5
Before their eyes dig for thee through the wall, and thou hast brought forth by it.
6
Before their eyes on the shoulder thou dost bear, in the darkness thou dost bring forth, thy face thou dost cover, and thou dost not see the earth, for a type I have given thee to the house of Israel.'
7
And I do so, as I have been commanded; my vessels I have brought forth as vessels of removal by day, and at even I have dug for me through the wall with the hand; in the darkness I have brought forth, on the shoulder I have borne away, before their eyes.
8
And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, in the morning, saying,
9
`Son of man, have they not said unto thee--the house of Israel--the rebellious house--What art thou doing?
10
say unto them, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: `The prince <FI>is<Fi> this burden in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel who are in their midst.
11
Say: I <FI>am<Fi> your type; as I have done so it is done to them, into a removal, into a captivity, they do go.
12
As to the prince who <FI>is<Fi> in their midst, on the shoulder he beareth in the darkness, and he goeth forth, through the wall they dig to bring forth by it, his face he covereth, that he may not look on the very surface of the land.
13
And I have spread My net for him, and he hath been caught in My snare, and I have brought him in to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans, and it he doth not see--and there doth he die.
14
`And all who are round about him to help him, and all his bands, I do scatter to every wind, and a sword I draw out after them.
15
And they have known that I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah, in My scattering them among nations, and I have spread them through lands;
16
and I have left of them, a few in number, from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence, so that they recount all their abominations among the nations whither they have come, and they have known that I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.'
17
And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,
18
`Son of man, thy bread in haste thou dost eat, and thy water with trembling and with fear thou dost drink;
19
and thou hast said unto the people of the land, Thus said the Lord Jehovah concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem, concerning the land of Israel: Their bread with fear they do eat, and their water with astonishment drink, because its land is desolate, because of its fulness, because of the violence of all who are dwelling in it.
20
And the cities that are inhabited are laid waste, and the land is a desolation, and ye have known that I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.'
21
And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,
22
`Son of man, what <FI>is<Fi> this simile to you, concerning the land of Israel, saying, Prolonged are the days, and perished hath every vision?
23
therefore say unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: I have caused this simile to cease, And they use it not as a simile again in Israel, But speak to them: Drawn near have the days, And spoken hath every vision.
24
For there is no more any vain vision, and flattering divination, In the midst of the house of Israel.
25
For I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah, I speak, The word that I speak--it is done, It is not prolonged any more, For, in your days, O rebellious house, I speak a word, and I have done it, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'
26
And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:
27
`Son of man, lo, the house of Israel are saying, The vision that he is seeing <FI>is<Fi> for many days, and of times far off he is prophesying,
28
therefore say unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: None of my words are prolonged any more, When I speak a word--it is done, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah!'
