while
2
men come to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my wrath, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city:
3
Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal unto them abundance of peace and truth.
4
And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.
5
And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned against me, and whereby they have transgressed against me.
6
And
7
this city shall be to me for a name of joy, for a praise and for a glory, before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them, and shall fear and tremble for all the good and for all the peace that I procure unto it.
8
Thus saith Jehovah: Yet again there shall be heard in this place, whereof ye say, It is waste, without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast,
9
the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that say, Give thanks to Jehovah of hosts, for Jehovah is good, for his lovingkindness
10
endureth for ever;
11
and of them that bring
12
sacrifices of thanksgiving into the house of Jehovah. For I will cause the captivity of the land to return as at the first, saith Jehovah.
13
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet again shall there be in this place, which is waste, without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.
14
In the cities of the hill-country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks again pass under the hands of him that numbereth them, saith Jehovah.
15
Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will perform that good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah.
16
In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.
17
In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely; and this is
18
the name whereby she shall be called: Jehovah our righteousness.
19
For thus saith Jehovah: David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;
20
neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt-offerings, and to burn meal-offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, saying,
darby (darby) - eBible.org Darby 1890 plaintext
1
And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon having made him king in the land of Judah.
2
And neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, hearkened unto the words of Jehovah, which he had spoken through the prophet Jeremiah.
3
And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto Jehovah ourGod for us.
4
And Jeremiah came in and went out among the people; for they had not put him into prison.
5
And Pharaoh's army was come forth out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they went up from Jerusalem.
6
And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
7
Thus saith Jehovah theGod of Israel: Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to inquire of me: Behold, Pharaoh's army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
8
And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
9
Thus saith Jehovah: Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans are certainly gone away from us; for they are not gone.
10
For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained [but] wounded men among them, [yet] should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
11
And it came to pass when the army of the Chaldeans was gone up from Jerusalem because of Pharaoh's army,
12
that Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to have his portion there among the people.
13
And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Thou art deserting to the Chaldeans.
14
And Jeremiah said, It is false: I am not deserting to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him; and Irijah laid hold on Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
15
And the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in the place of confinement in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.
16
When Jeremiah was come into the dungeon and into the vaults, and Jeremiah had remained there many days,
17
king Zedekiah sent and took him out. And the king asked of him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from Jehovah? And Jeremiah said, There is; and he said, Thou shalt be given into the hand of the king of Babylon.
18
And Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in the prison?
19
And where are your prophets that prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
20
And now hear, I pray thee, my lord, O king: let my supplication, I pray thee, come before thee; and cause me not to return into the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
21
Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard, and they gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city was spent. And Jeremiah abode in the court of the guard.

The Word that came to Jeremias from the Lord, saying,
2
Thus speaks the Lord God of Israel, saying, Write all the words which I have spoken to thee in a book.
3
For, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will bring back the captivity of my people Israel and Juda, said the Lord: and I will bring them back to the land which I gave to their fathers, and they shall be lords of it.
4
And these are the Words which the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Juda:
5
Thus said the Lord: Ye shall hear a sound of fear, [there is] fear, and there is not peace.
6
Enquire, and see if a male has born a child? and [ask] concerning the fear, wherein they shall hold their loins, and [look for] safety: for I have seen every man, and his hands are on his loins; [their] faces are turned to paleness.
7
For that day is great, and there is not such [another]; and it is a time of straitness to Jacob; but he shall be saved out of it.
8
In that day, said the Lord, I will break the yoke off their neck, and will burst their bonds, and they shall no longer serve strangers:
9
but they shall serve the Lord their God; and I will raise up to them David their king.
12
Thus saith the Lord; I have brought on [thee] destruction; thy stroke is painful.
13
There is none to judge thy cause: thou hast been painfully treated for healing, there is no help for thee.
14
All thy friends have forgotten thee; they shall not ask [about thee] at all, for I have smitten thee with the stroke of an enemy, [even] severe correction: thy sins have abounded above all thine iniquity.
16
Therefore all that devour thee shall be eaten, and all thine enemies shall eat all their [own] flesh. Thy sins have abounded beyond the multitude of thine iniquities, [therefore] they have done these things to thee. And they that spoil thee shall become a spoil, and I will give up to be plundered all that have plundered thee.
17
For I will bring about thy healing, I will heal thee of thy grievous wound, saith the Lord; for thou art called Dispersed: she is your prey, for no one seeks after her.
18
Thus said the Lord; Behold, I will turn the captivity of Jacob, and will have pity upon his prisoners; and the city shall be built upon her hill, and the people shall settle after their manner.
19
And there shall go forth from them singers, [even] the sound of men making merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not at all be diminished.
20
And their sons shall go in as before, and their testimonies shall be established before me, and I will visit them that afflict them.
21
And their mighty ones shall be over them, and their prince shall proceed of themselves; and I will gather them, and they shall return to me: for who is this that has set his heart to return to me? saith the Lord.
23
For the wrathful anger of the Lord has gone forth, [even] a whirlwind of anger has gone forth: it shall come upon the ungodly.
24
The fierce anger of the Lord shall not return, until he shall execute [it], and until he shall establish the purpose of his heart: in the latter days ye shall know these things.

1
Et regnavit rex Sedecias filius Iosiæ pro Iechonia filio Ioakim: quem constituit regem Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis in Terra Iuda:
2
6
Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israel: Sic dicetis regi Iuda, qui misit vos ad me interrogandum: Ecce exercitus Pharaonis, qui egressus est vobis in auxilium, revertetur in terram suam in Ægyptum.
7
et redient Chaldæi, et bellabunt contra civitatem hanc: et capient eam, et succendent eam igni.
8
Hæc dicit Dominus: Nolite decipere animas vestras, dicentes: Euntes abibunt, et recedent a nobis Chaldæi, quia non abibunt.
9
14
Quam ob rem irati principes contra Ieremiam, cæsum eum miserunt in carcerem, qui erat in domo Ionathan scribæ: ipse enim præpositus erat super carcerem.
15
Itaque ingressus est Ieremias in domum laci et in ergastulum: et sedit ibi Ieremias diebus multis.
16
Mittens autem Sedecias rex tulit eum: et interrogavit eum in domo sua abscondite, et dixit: Putasne est sermo a Domino? Et dixit Ieremias: Est. Et ait: In manus regis Babylonis traderis.
17
19
Nunc ergo audi obsecro domine mi rex: Valeat deprecatio mea in conspectu tuo: et ne me remittas in domum Ionathan scribæ, ne moriar ibi.
20
Præcepit ergo rex Sedecias ut traderetur Ieremias in vestibulo carceris: et daretur ei torta panis quotidie, excepto pulmento, donec consumerentur omnes panes de civitate: et mansit Ieremias in vestibulo carceris.

3
Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, “Pray now to the LORD our God for us.”
4
Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people, for they had not put him into prison.
5
Pharaoh’s army had come out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they withdrew from Jerusalem.
6
Then the LORD’s word came to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
7
“The LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: “Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, will return to Egypt into their own land.

The Chaldeans will come again, and fight against this city. They will take it and burn it with fire.”’
9
“The LORD says, ‘Don’t deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will surely depart from us;” for they will not depart.
10
For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and only wounded men remained among them, they would each rise up in his tent and burn this city with fire.’”
11
When the army of the Chaldeans had withdrawn from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
12
then Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the middle of the people.
13
When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”
14
Then Jeremiah said, “That is false! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
15
The princes were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.
16
When Jeremiah had come into the dungeon house and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days,
17
then Zedekiah the king sent and had him brought out. The king asked him secretly in his house, “Is there any word from the LORD?” Jeremiah said, “There is.” He also said, “You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”
18
Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “How have I sinned against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
19
Now where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you, nor against this land’?
20
Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”
21
Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard. They gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

And Zedekiah the king sendeth Jehucal son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying, `Pray, we beseech thee, for us unto Jehovah our God.'

And Jeremiah is coming in and going out in the midst of the people, (and they have not put him in the prison-house),
5
and the force of Pharaoh hath come out of Egypt, and the Chaldeans, who are laying siege against Jerusalem, hear their report, and go up from off Jerusalem.
6
And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
7
`Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Thus do ye say unto the king of Judah, who is sending you unto Me, to seek Me: Lo, the force of Pharaoh that is coming out to you for help hath turned back to its land, to Egypt,
8
and the Chaldeans have turned back, and fought against this city, and captured it, and burnt it with fire.
9
`Thus said Jehovah: Lift not up your souls saying, The Chaldeans surely go from off us, for they do not go;
10
for though ye had smitten all the force of the Chaldeans who are fighting with you, and there were left of them wounded men--each in his tent--they rise, and have burnt this city with fire.'

When Jeremiah hath entered into the house of the dungeon, and unto the cells, then Jeremiah dwelleth there many days,
17
and the king Zedekiah sendeth, and taketh him, and the king asketh him in his house in secret, and saith, `Is there a word from Jehovah?' And Jeremiah saith, `There is,' and he saith, `Into the hand of the king of Babylon thou art given.'
