1 And the idols shall utterly pass away.
2 And men shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake mightily the earth.
3 In that day men shall cast away their idols of silver, and their idols of gold, which have been made for them to worship, to the moles and to the bats;
4 to go into the caverns of the rocks, and into the clefts of the ragged rocks, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake mightily the earth.
5 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for wherein is he to be accounted of?
6 For, behold, the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water;
7 the mighty man, and the man of war; the judge, and the prophet, and the diviner, and the elder;
8 the captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counsellor, and the expert artificer, and the skilful enchanter.
9 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
10 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor: the child shall behave himself proudly against the old man, and the base against the honorable.
11 When a man shall take hold of his brother in the house of his father,
12 saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand;
13 in that day shall he lift up
14 his voice, saying, I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: ye shall not make me ruler of the people.
15 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against Jehovah, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
16 The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have done evil unto themselves.
17 Say ye of the righteous, that

19 with him; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
20 Woe unto the wicked!
21 it shall be ill
22 with him; for what his hands have done shall be done unto him.
23 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they that lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
24 Jehovah standeth up to contend, and standeth to judge the peoples.
25 Jehovah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and the princes thereof: It is ye that have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses:
26 what mean ye that ye crush my people, and grind the face of the poor? saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

12 [As for] my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. My people! they that guide thee mislead [thee], and destroy the way of thy paths.
13 Jehovah setteth himself to plead, and standeth to judge the peoples.
14 Jehovah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people and their princes, [saying:] It is ye that have eaten up the vineyard: the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
15 What mean ye that ye crush my people, and grind the faces of the afflicted? saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.
16 And Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-out neck and wanton eyes, and go along mincing, and making a tinkling with their feet;
17 therefore the Lord will make bald the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will lay bare their secret parts.
18 In that day the Lord will take away the ornament of anklets, and the little suns and crescents,
19 the pearl-drops, and the bracelets, and the veils,
20 the head-dresses, and the stepping chains, and the girdles, and the scent-boxes, and the amulets;
21 the finger-rings, and the nose-rings;
22 the festival-robes, and the tunics, and the mantles, and the wallets;
23 the mirrors, and the fine linen bodices, and the turbans, and the flowing veils.
24 And it shall come to pass, instead of perfume there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe of display, a girding of sackcloth; brand instead of beauty.
25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the fight;
26 and her gates shall lament and mourn; and, stripped, she shall sit upon the ground.

10 Woe to their soul, for they have devised an evil counsel against themselves, saying against themselves, Let us bind the just, for he is burdensome to us: therefore shall they eat the fruits of their works.
11 Woe to the transgressor! evils shall happen to him according to the works of his hands.
12 O my people, your exactors strip you, and extortioners rule over you: O my people, they that pronounce you blessed lead you astray, and pervert the path of your feet.
13 But now the Lord will stand up for judgment, and will enter into judgment with his people.
14 The Lord himself shall enter into judgment with the elders of the people, and with their rulers: but why have ye set my vineyard on fire, and [why is] the spoil of the poor in your houses?
15 Why do ye wrong my people, and shame the face of the poor?
16 Thus saith the Lord, Because the daughters of Sion are haughty, and have walked with an outstretched neck, and with winking of the eyes, and motion of the feet, at the same time drawing their garments in trains, and at the same time sporting with their feet:
17 therefore the Lord will humble the chief daughters of Sion, and the Lord will expose their form in that day;
18 and the Lord will take away the glory of their raiment, the curls and the fringes, and the crescents,
19 and the chains, and the ornaments of their faces,
20 and the array of glorious ornaments, and the armlets, and the bracelets, and the wreathed work, and the finger-rings, and the ornaments for the right hand, and the ear-rings,
21 and the garments with scarlet borders, and the garments with purple grounds,
22 and the shawls to be worn in the house, and the Spartan transparent dresses,

24 And there shall be instead of a sweet smell, dust; and instead of a girdle, thou shalt gird thyself with a rope; and instead of a golden ornament for the head, thou shalt have baldness on account of thy works; and instead of a tunic with a scarlet ground, thou shalt gird thyself with sackcloth.
25 And thy most beautiful son whom thou lovest shall fall by the sword; and your mighty men shall fall by the sword, and shall be brought low.
26 And the stores of your ornaments shall mourn, and thou shalt be left alone, and shalt be levelled with the ground.

A long, long time ago, there was nothing at all - no earth, no sky, no animals, no people. It was all dark and empty. But God was there! God is so powerful that He can make anything just by speaking. So God said "Let there be light!" and BOOM! There was light everywhere! God saw that the light was beautiful and good. He called the light "day" and the darkness "night." This was the very first day when God started making our wonderful world!

Explain Like I'm 10

Before anything existed - no planets, stars, or life - God decided to create the universe. The earth started out as a dark, empty place covered with water. But God's Spirit was there, ready to bring order and beauty to everything. When God spoke and said "Let there be light," light immediately appeared because God's words have incredible power. God looked at the light and was pleased with what He had made. He organized time by separating light (day) from darkness (night), creating the first 24-hour period. This shows us that God is organized and purposeful in everything He does.
