3
And Jehovah said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight;
4
and thou shalt make of it incense, a perfume after the art of the perfumer, seasoned with salt, pure
5
and holy:
6
and thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the tent of meeting, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy.
7
And the incense which thou shalt make, according to the composition thereof ye shall not make for yourselves: it shall be unto thee holy for Jehovah.
8
Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereof, he shall be cut off from his people.
9
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
10
See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:
11
and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
12
to devise skilful works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,
13
and in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving of wood, to work in all manner of workmanship.
14
And I, behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the heart of all that are wise-hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee:
15
the tent of meeting, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy-seat that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the Tent,
16
and the table and its vessels, and the pure candlestick with all its vessels, and the altar of incense,
17
and the altar of burnt-offering with all its vessels, and the laver and its base,
18
and the finely wrought garments, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest’s office,
19
and the anointing oil, and the incense of sweet spices for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do.
20
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
21
Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily ye shall keep my sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Jehovah who sanctifieth you.
22
Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that profaneth it shall surely be put to death; for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
23
Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Jehovah: whosoever doeth any work on the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
24
Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
25
It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
26
And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, the two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
27
And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.
28
And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden rings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.
29
And all the people brake off the golden rings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.
30
And he received it at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, and made it a molten calf: and they said, These are thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
31
And when Aaron saw
32
this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To-morrow shall be a feast to Jehovah.
33
And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt-offerings, and brought peace-offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.
34
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, that thou broughtest up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
35
they have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed unto it, and said, These are thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

And be ready for the morning, and go up in the morning to mount Sinai, and stand there before me on the top of the mountain.
3
And let no man go up with thee, neither shall any man be seen on all the mountain; neither shall sheep and oxen feed in front of that mountain.

And Jehovah passed by before his face, and proclaimed, Jehovah, JehovahGod merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7
keeping mercy unto thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but by no means clearing [the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, upon the third and upon the fourth [generation].
8
And Moses made haste, and bowed his head to the earth and worshipped,
9
and said, If indeed I have found grace in thine eyes, Lord, let the Lord, I pray thee, go in our midst; for it is a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for an inheritance!
10
And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels that have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people in the midst of which thou [art] shall see the work of Jehovah; for a terrible thing it shall be that I will do with thee.
11
Observe what I command thee this day: behold, I will drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
12
Take heed to thyself, that thou make no covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which thou shalt come, lest it be a snare in the midst of thee;
13
but ye shall demolish their altars, shatter their statues, and hew down their Asherahs.
14
For thou shalt worship no otherGod; for Jehovah — Jealous is his name — is a jealousGod;
15
lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and then, when they go a whoring after theirgods, and sacrifice unto theirgods, thou be invited, and eat of their sacrifice,
16
and thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after theirgods, and make thy sons go a whoring after theirgods.

— All that openeth the womb [is] mine; and all the cattle that is born a male, the firstling of ox and sheep.
20
But the firstling of an ass thou shalt ransom with a lamb; and if thou ransom [it] not, then shalt thou break its neck. All the first-born of thy sons thou shalt ransom; and none shall appear before me empty.
21
— Six days shalt thou work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest; in ploughing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
22
— And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the first-fruits of wheat-harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the turn of the year.
23
Thrice in the year shall all thy males appear before the Lord Jehovah, theGod of Israel.
24
For I will dispossess the nations before thee, and enlarge thy border, and no man shall desire thy land, when thou goest up to appear before the face of Jehovah thyGod thrice in the year.

30
And Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him.

Ac deinceps: Præcide, ait, tibi duas tabulas lapideas instar priorum, et scribam super eas verba, quæ habuerunt tabulæ, quas fregisti.
2
Esto paratus mane, ut ascendas statim in montem Sinai, stabisque mecum super verticem montis.
3
10
Respondit Dominus: Ego inibo pactum videntibus cunctis, signa faciam quæ numquam visa sunt super terram, nec in ullis gentibus: ut cernat populus iste, in cuius es medio, opus Domini terribile quod facturus sum.
11
Observa cuncta quæ hodie mando tibi: ego ipse eiiciam ante faciem tuam Amorrhæum, et Chananæum, et Hethæum, Pherezæum quoque, et Hevæum, et Iebusæum.
12
Cave ne umquam cum habitatoribus terræ illius iungas amicitias, quæ sint tibi in ruinam:
13
sed aras eorum destrue, confringe statuas, lucosque succide:
14
noli adorare deum alienum. Dominus zelotes nomen eius, Deus est æmulator.
15
16
Nec uxorem de filiabus eorum accipies filiis tuis: ne, postquam ipsæ fuerint fornicatæ, fornicari faciant et filios tuos in deos suos.
17
Deos conflatiles non facies tibi.
18
Sollemnitatem azymorum custodies. Septem diebus vesceris azymis, sicut præcepi tibi, in tempore mensis novorum: mense enim verni temporis egressus es de Ægypto.
19
21
Sex diebus operaberis, die septimo cessabis arare, et metere.
22
Sollemnitatem hebdomadarum facies tibi in primitiis frugum messis tuæ triticeæ, et sollemnitatem, quando redeunte anni tempore cuncta conduntur.
23
Tribus temporibus anni apparebit omne masculinum tuum in conspectu omnipotentis Domini Dei Israel.
24
Cum enim tulero gentes a facie tua, et dilatavero terminos tuos, nullus insidiabitur terræ tuæ, ascendente te, et apparente in conspectu Domini Dei tui ter in anno.
25
26
Primitias frugum terræ tuæ offeres in domo Domini Dei tui. Non coques hœdum in lacte matris suæ.
27
32
venerunt ad eum etiam omnes filii Israel: quibus præcepit cuncta quæ audierat a Domino in monte Sinai.
33
Impletisque sermonibus, posuit velamen super faciem suam.
34

`And a feast of weeks thou dost observe for thyself; first-fruits of wheat-harvest; and the feast of in-gathering, at the revolution of the year.
23
`Three times in a year do all thy males appear before the Lord Jehovah, God of Israel;
24
for I dispossess nations from before thee, and have enlarged thy border, and no man doth desire thy land in thy going up to appear before Jehovah thy God three times in a year.
25
`Thou dost not slaughter with a fermented thing the blood of My sacrifice; and the sacrifice of the feast of the passover doth not remain till morning:
26
the first of the first-fruits of the land thou dost bring into the house of Jehovah thy God; thou dost not boil a kid in its mother's milk.'
27
And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Write for thyself these words, for, according to the tenor of these words I have made with thee a covenant, and with Israel.'
28
And he is there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights; bread he hath not eaten, and water he hath not drunk; and he writeth on the tables the matters of the covenant--the ten matters.
29
And it cometh to pass, when Moses is coming down from mount Sinai (and the two tables of the testimony <FI>are<Fi> in the hand of Moses in his coming down from the mount), that Moses hath not known that the skin of his face hath shone in His speaking with him,
30
and Aaron seeth--all the sons of Israel also--Moses, and lo, the skin of his face hath shone, and they are afraid of coming nigh unto him.
31
And Moses calleth unto them, and Aaron and all the princes in the company return unto him, and Moses speaketh unto them;
32
and afterwards have all the sons of Israel come nigh, and he chargeth them with all that Jehovah hath spoken with him in mount Sinai.
33
And Moses finisheth speaking with them, and putteth on his face a vail;
34
and in the going in of Moses before Jehovah to speak with Him, he turneth aside the vail until his coming out; and he hath come out and hath spoken unto the sons of Israel that which he is commanded;
35
and the sons of Israel have seen the face of Moses that the skin of the face of Moses hath shone, and Moses hath put back the vail on his face until his going in to speak with Him.
