1 Before I go hence, and be no more.
2 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
3 I waited patiently for Jehovah;
4 And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
5 He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay;
6 And he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
7 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God:
8 Many shall see it, and fear,
9 And shall trust in Jehovah.
10 Blessed is the man that maketh Jehovah his trust,
11 And respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
12 Many, O Jehovah my God, are the wonderful works which thou hast done,
13 And thy thoughts which are to us-ward:
14 They cannot be set in order unto thee;
15 If I would declare and speak of them,
16 They are more than can be numbered.
17 Sacrifice and offering thou hast no delight in;

2 Before the mountains were brought forth, and thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from eternity to eternity thou artGod.
3 Thou makest [mortal] man to return to dust, and sayest, Return, children of men.
4 For a thousand years, in thy sight, are as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.
5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning they are like grass [that] groweth up:
6 In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.
7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy fury are we troubled.
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.
9 For all our days pass away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a [passing] thought.
10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if, by reason of strength, they be fourscore years, yet their pride is labour and vanity, for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? and thy wrath according to the fear of thee?
12 So teach [us] to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.
13 Return, Jehovah: how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
14 Satisfy us early with thy loving-kindness; that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, according to the years [wherein] we have seen evil.
16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy majesty unto their sons.
17 And let the beauty of Jehovah ourGod be upon us; and establish thou the work of our hands upon us: yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.

1 Praise of a Song, by David. He that dwells in the help of the Highest, shall sojourn under the shelter of the God of heaven.
2 He shall say to the Lord, Thou art my helper and my refuge: my God; I will hope in him.
3 For he shall deliver thee from the snare of the hunters, from [every] troublesome matter.
4 He shall overshadow thee with his shoulders, and thou shalt trust under his wings: his truth shall cover thee with a shield.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid of terror by night; nor of the arrow flying by day;
6 [nor] of the [evil] thing that walks in darkness; [nor] of calamity, and the evil spirit at noon-day.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou observe and see the reward of sinners.
9 For thou, O Lord, art my hope: thou, my soul, hast made the Most High thy refuge.
10 No evils shall come upon thee, and no scourge shall draw nigh to thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up on their hands, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread on the asp and basilisk: and thou shalt trample on the lion and dragon.
14 For he has hoped in me, and I will deliver him: I will protect him, because he has known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will hearken to him: I am with him in affliction; and I will deliver him, and glorify him.
16 I will satisfy him with length of days, and shew him my salvation.

6 In the morning it sprouts and springs up. By evening, it is withered and dry.
7 For we are consumed in your anger. We are troubled in your wrath.

9 For all our days have passed away in your wrath. We bring our years to an end as a sigh.
10 The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away.

12 So teach us to count our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
13 Relent, LORD! How long? Have compassion on your servants!
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen evil.
16 Let your work appear to your servants, your glory to their children.

Explain Like I'm 5

A long, long time ago, there was nothing at all - no earth, no sky, no animals, no people. It was all dark and empty. But God was there! God is so powerful that He can make anything just by speaking. So God said "Let there be light!" and BOOM! There was light everywhere! God saw that the light was beautiful and good. He called the light "day" and the darkness "night." This was the very first day when God started making our wonderful world!

Explain Like I'm 10

Before anything existed - no planets, stars, or life - God decided to create the universe. The earth started out as a dark, empty place covered with water. But God's Spirit was there, ready to bring order and beauty to everything. When God spoke and said "Let there be light," light immediately appeared because God's words have incredible power. God looked at the light and was pleased with what He had made. He organized time by separating light (day) from darkness (night), creating the first 24-hour period. This shows us that God is organized and purposeful in everything He does.
