I waited patiently for Jehovah; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2
And he brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock; he hath established my goings:
3
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, praise unto ourGod. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall confide in Jehovah.
4
Blessed is the man that hath made Jehovah his confidence, and turneth not to the proud, and to such as turn aside to lies.
5
Thou, O Jehovah myGod, hast multiplied thy marvellous works, and thy thoughts toward us: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee; would I declare and speak [them], they are more than can be numbered.
6
Sacrifice and oblation thou didst not desire: ears hast thou prepared me. Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not demanded;

Then said I, Behold, I come, in the volume of the book it is written of me —
8
To do thy good pleasure, myGod, is my delight, and thy law is within my heart.

I have published righteousness in the great congregation: behold, I have not withheld my lips, Jehovah, thou knowest.

Withhold not thou, Jehovah, thy tender mercies from me; let thy loving-kindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head: and my heart hath failed me.
13
Be pleased, O Jehovah, to deliver me; Jehovah, make haste to my help.
14
Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be turned backward and confounded that take pleasure in mine adversity;
15
Let them be desolate, because of their shame, that say unto me, Aha! Aha!
16
Let all those that seek thee be glad and rejoice in thee; let such as love thy salvation say continually, Jehovah be magnified!
17
But I am afflicted and needy: the Lord thinketh upon me. Thou art my help and my deliverer: myGod, make no delay.

1
For the end, a Psalm of David.
2
Blessed [is the man] who thinks on the poor and needy: the Lord shall deliver him in an evil day.
3
May the Lord preserve him and keep him alive, and bless him on the earth, and not deliver him into the hands of his enemy.
4
May the Lord help him upon the bed of his pain; thou hast made all his bed in his sickness.
5
I said, O Lord, have mercy upon me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
6
Mine enemies have spoken evil against me, [saying], When shall he die, and his name perish?
7
And if he came to see [me], his heart spoke vainly; he gathered iniquity to himself; he went forth and spoke in like manner.
8
All my enemies whispered against me; against me they devised my hurt.
9
They denounced a wicked word against me, [saying], Now that he lies, shall he not rise up again?
10
For even the man of my peace, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, lifted up [his] heel against me.
11
But thou, O Lord, have compassion upon me, and raise me up, and I shall requite them.
12
By this I know that thou hast delighted in me, because mine enemy shall not rejoice over me.
13
But thou didst help me because of [mine] innocence, and hast established me before thee for ever.
14
Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. So be it, so be it.

1
In finem, Psalmus ipsi David.
2
Beatus qui intelligit super egenum, et pauperem: in die mala liberabit eum Dominus.
3
Dominus conservet eum, et vivificet eum, et beatum faciat eum in terra: et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum eius.
4
Dominus opem ferat illi super lectum doloris eius: universum stratum eius versasti in infirmitate eius.
5
Ego dixi: Domine miserere mei: sana animam meam, quia peccavi tibi.
6
Inimici mei dixerunt mala mihi: Quando morietur, et peribit nomen eius?
7
Et si ingrediebatur ut videret, vana loquebatur, cor eius congregavit iniquitatem sibi. Egrediebatur foras, et loquebatur
8
in idipsum. Adversum me susurrabant omnes inimici mei: adversum me cogitabant mala mihi.
9
Verbum iniquum constituerunt adversum me: Numquid qui dormit non adiiciet ut resurgat?
10
Etenim homo pacis meæ, in quo speravi: qui edebat panes meos, magnificavit super me supplantationem.
11
Tu autem Domine miserere mei, et resuscita me: et retribuam eis.
12
In hoc cognovi quoniam voluisti me: quoniam non gaudebit inimicus meus super me.
13
Me autem propter innocentiam suscepisti: et confirmasti me in conspectu tuo in æternum.
14
Benedictus Dominus Deus Israel a sæculo, et usque in sæculum: fiat, fiat.

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David. I waited patiently for the LORD. He turned to me, and heard my cry.
2
He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.

He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, and doesn’t respect the proud, nor such as turn away to lies.

Many, LORD, my God, are the wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are toward us. They can’t be declared back to you. If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be counted.
6
Sacrifice and offering you didn’t desire. You have opened my ears. You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.

Then I said, “Behold, I have come. It is written about me in the book in the scroll.
8
I delight to do your will, my God. Yes, your law is within my heart.”

I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Behold, I will not seal my lips, LORD, you know.

I have not hidden your righteousness within my heart. I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I have not concealed your loving kindness and your truth from the great assembly.

Let them be desolate by reason of their shame that tell me, “Aha! Aha!”

Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let such as love your salvation say continually, “Let the LORD be exalted!”
