1 With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful;
2 With the perfect man thou wilt show thyself perfect;
3 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure;
4 And with the perverse thou wilt show thyself froward.
5 For thou wilt save the afflicted people;
6 But the haughty eyes thou wilt bring down.
7 For thou wilt light my lamp:
8 Jehovah my God will lighten my darkness.
9 For by thee I run upon a troop;
10 And by my God do I leap over a wall.
11 As for God, his way is perfect:
12 The word of Jehovah is tried;
13 He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him.
14 For who is God, save Jehovah?
15 And who is a rock, besides our God,
16 The God that girdeth me with strength,
17 And maketh my way perfect?
18 He maketh my feet like hinds’
19 feet:
20 And setteth me upon my high places.
21 He teacheth my hands to war;
22 So that mine arms do bend a bow of brass.
23 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation;
24 And thy right hand hath holden me up,
25 And thy gentleness hath made me great.
26 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me,
27 And my feet have not slipped.
28 I will pursue mine enemies, and overtake them;
29 Neither will I turn again till they are consumed.
30 I will smite them through, so that they shall not be able to rise:
31 They shall fall under my feet.
32 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle:
33 Thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
34 Thou hast also made mine enemies turn their backs unto me,
35 That I might cut off them that hate me.
36 They cried, but there was none to save;
37 Even unto Jehovah, but he answered them not.
38 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind;
39 I did cast them out as the mire of the streets.

1 Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, and be not envious of them that work unrighteousness;
2 for they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and fade as the green herb.
3 Confide in Jehovah, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on faithfulness;
4 and delight thyself in Jehovah, and he will give thee the desires of thy heart.
5 Commit thy way unto Jehovah, and rely upon him: he will bring [it] to pass;
6 and he will bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him that prospereth in his way, because of the man that bringeth mischievous devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; fret not thyself: it [would be] only to do evil.
9 For evil-doers shall be cut off; but those that wait on Jehovah, they shall possess the land.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked is not; and thou considerest his place, but he is not.
11 But the meek shall possess the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of prosperity.
12 The wicked plotteth against the righteous, and gnasheth his teeth against him.
13 The Lord laugheth at him; for he seeth that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the afflicted and needy, to slay those that are upright in [the] way:
15 their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16 The little that the righteous hath is better than the abundance of many wicked;
17 for the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but Jehovah upholdeth the righteous.
18 Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect; and their inheritance shall be for ever:
19 they shall not be ashamed in the time of evil, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20 For the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of Jehovah shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume, like smoke shall they consume away.
21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again; but the righteous is gracious and giveth:
22 for those blessed of him shall possess the land, and they that are cursed of him shall be cut off.
23 The steps of a man are established by Jehovah, and he delighteth in his way:
24 though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for Jehovah upholdeth his hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old, and I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed seeking bread:
26 all the day he is gracious and lendeth, and his seed shall be a blessing.
27 Depart from evil, and do good, and dwell for evermore;
28 for Jehovah loveth judgment, and will not forsake his saints: They are preserved for ever; but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall possess the land, and dwell therein for ever.
30 The mouth of the righteous proffereth wisdom, and his tongue speaketh judgment;
31 the law of hisGod is in his heart; his goings shall not slide.
32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him:
33 Jehovah will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
34 Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way, and he will exalt thee to possess the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see [it].
35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading like a green tree in its native soil:
36 but he passed away, and behold, he was not; and I sought him, but he was not found.
37 Mark the perfect, and behold the upright, for the end of [that] man is peace;
38 but the transgressors shall be destroyed together; the future of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 But the salvation of the righteous is of Jehovah: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
40 And Jehovah will help them and deliver them: he will deliver them from the wicked, and save them; for they trust in him.

2 O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath, neither chasten me in thine anger.
3 For thy weapons are fixed in me, and thou hast pressed thy hand heavily upon me.
4 For there is no health in my flesh because of thine anger; there is no peace to my bones because of my sins.
5 For my transgressions have gone over mine head: they have pressed heavily upon me like a weighty burden.
6 My bruises have become noisome and corrupt, because of my foolishness.
7 I have been wretched and bowed down continually: I went with a mourning countenance all the day.
8 For my soul is filled with mockings; and there is no health in my flesh.

13 While they pressed hard upon me that sought my soul: and they that sought my hurt spoke vanities, and devised deceits all the day.
14 But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and was as a dumb man not opening his mouth.
15 And I was as a man that hears not, and who has no reproofs in his mouth.
16 For I hoped in thee, O Lord: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.
17 For I said, Lest mine enemies rejoice against me: for when my feet were moved, they spoke boastingly against me.
18 For I am ready for plagues, and my grief is continually before me.
19 For I will declare mine iniquity, and be distressed for my sin.
20 But mine enemies live, and are mightier than I: and they that hate me unjustly are multiplied.
21 They that reward evil for good slandered me; because I followed righteousness.
22 Forsake me not, O Lord my God: depart not from me.

1 By David. Don’t fret because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Also delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD. Trust also in him, and he will do this:
6 he will make your righteousness shine out like light, and your justice as the noon day sun.
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don’t fret; it leads only to evildoing.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look for his place, he isn’t there.
11 But the humble shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12 The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth.
13 The Lord will laugh at him, for he sees that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to kill those who are upright on the path.

20 But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of the LORD shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish— vanish like smoke.
21 The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously.
22 For such as are blessed by him shall inherit the land. Those who are cursed by him shall be cut off.
23 A man’s steps are established by the LORD. He delights in his way.
24 Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for the LORD holds him up with his hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread.
26 All day long he deals graciously, and lends. His offspring is blessed.
27 Depart from evil, and do good. Live securely forever.
28 For the LORD loves justice, and doesn’t forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and live in it forever.
30 The mouth of the righteous talks of wisdom. His tongue speaks justice.
31 The law of his God is in his heart. None of his steps shall slide.
32 The wicked watch the righteous, and seek to kill him.

A long, long time ago, there was nothing at all - no earth, no sky, no animals, no people. It was all dark and empty. But God was there! God is so powerful that He can make anything just by speaking. So God said "Let there be light!" and BOOM! There was light everywhere! God saw that the light was beautiful and good. He called the light "day" and the darkness "night." This was the very first day when God started making our wonderful world!

Explain Like I'm 10

Before anything existed - no planets, stars, or life - God decided to create the universe. The earth started out as a dark, empty place covered with water. But God's Spirit was there, ready to bring order and beauty to everything. When God spoke and said "Let there be light," light immediately appeared because God's words have incredible power. God looked at the light and was pleased with what He had made. He organized time by separating light (day) from darkness (night), creating the first 24-hour period. This shows us that God is organized and purposeful in everything He does.
