And when Solomon had ended praying, the fire came down from the heavens and consumed the burnt-offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of Jehovah filled the house.

And the priests could not enter into the house of Jehovah, because the glory of Jehovah filled Jehovah's house.

And all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of Jehovah upon the house, and bowed themselves with their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshipped and thanked Jehovah: For he is good, for his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever.

And the king and all the people offered sacrifices before Jehovah.
5
And king Solomon sacrificed a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house ofGod.
6
And the priests stood in their charges, and the Levites with Jehovah's instruments of music, which David the king had made to praise Jehovah, for his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever, when David praised by their means; and the priests sounded the trumpets opposite to them, and all Israel stood.
7
And Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt-offerings and the oblations and the fat.
8
And at that time Solomon held the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entrance of Hamath unto the torrent of Egypt.
9
And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly; for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.
10
And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that Jehovah had done to David and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.
11
And Solomon completed the house of Jehovah, and the king's house; and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of Jehovah, and in his own house, he did prosperously.
12
Then Jehovah appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: I have heard thy prayer, and I have chosen for myself this place for a house of sacrifice.
13
If I shut up the heavens that there be no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
14
and my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from the heavens, and forgive their sin, and heal their land.
15
Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attentive to the prayer [made] in this place;
16
for I have now chosen and hallowed this house, that my name may be there for ever; and mine eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.
17
And [as for] thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances;
18
then will I establish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to rule over Israel.
19
But if ye turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve othergods and worship them;
20
then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed to my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.
21
And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passes by it; so that he shall say, Why has Jehovah done thus to this land and to this house?
22
And they shall say, Because they forsook Jehovah theGod of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and have attached themselves to othergods, and have worshipped them and served them; therefore he has brought upon them all this evil.

Sanctificavit quoque Salomon medium atrii ante templum Domini: obtulerat enim ibi holocausta et adipes pacificorum: quia altare æneum, quod fecerat, non poterat sustinere holocausta et sacrificia et adipes.

Fecit ergo Salomon sollemnitatem in tempore illo septem diebus, et omnis Israel cum eo, ecclesia magna valde, ab introitu Emath usque ad Torrentem Ægypti.

Fecitque die octavo collectam, eo quod dedicasset altare septem diebus, et sollemnitatem celebrasset diebus septem.

Igitur in die vigesimo tertio mensis septimi dimisit populos ad tabernacula sua, lætantes atque gaudentes super bono, quod fecerat Dominus Davidi, et Salomoni, et Israeli populo suo.

Complevitque Salomon domum Domini, et domum regis, et omnia quæ disposuerat in corde suo, ut faceret in domo Domini, et in domo sua, et prosperatus est.
12
Apparuit autem ei Dominus nocte, et ait: Audivi orationem tuam, et elegi locum istum mihi in domum sacrificii.
13
Si clausero cælum, et pluvia non fluxerit, et mandavero et præcepero locustæ, ut devoret terram, et misero pestilentiam in populum meum:
14
conversus autem populus meus, super quos invocatum est nomen meum, deprecatus me fuerit, et exquisierit faciem meam, et egerit pœnitentiam a viis suis pessimis: et ego exaudiam de cælo, et propitius ero peccatis eorum, et sanabo terram eorum.
15
Oculi quoque mei erunt aperti, et aures meæ erectæ ad orationem eius, qui in loco isto oraverit.
16
Elegi enim, et sanctificavi locum istum, ut sit nomen meum ibi in sempiternum, et permaneant oculi mei, et cor meum ibi cunctis diebus.
17
Tu quoque si ambulaveris coram me, sicut ambulaverit David pater tuus, et feceris iuxta omnia, quæ præcepi tibi, et iustitias meas iudiciaque servaveris:
18
suscitabo thronum regni tui, sicut pollicitus sum David patri tuo, dicens: Non auferetur de stirpe tua vir, qui sit princeps in Israel.
19
Si autem aversi fueritis, et dereliqueritis iustitias meas, et præcepta mea, quæ proposui vobis, et abeuntes servieritis diis alienis, et adoraveritis eos,
20
evellam vos de terra mea, quam dedi vobis: et domum hanc, quam sanctificavi nomini meo, proiiciam a facie mea, et tradam eam in parabolam, et in exemplum cunctis populis.
21
Et domus ista erit in proverbium universis transeuntibus, et dicent stupentes: Quare fecit Dominus sic terræ huic, et domui huic?

Respondebuntque: Quia dereliquerunt Dominum Deum patrum suorum, qui eduxit eos de Terra Ægypti, et apprehenderunt deos alienos, et adoraverunt eos, et coluerunt: idcirco venerunt super eos universa hæc mala.

And at Solomon's finishing to pray, then the fire hath come down from the heavens, and consumeth the burnt-offering and the sacrifices, and the honour of Jehovah hath filled the house,

and the priests have not been able to go in unto the house of Jehovah, because the honour of Jehovah hath filled the house of Jehovah.

And all the sons of Israel are looking on the descending of the fire, and the honour of Jehovah on the house, and they bow--faces to the earth--on the pavement, and do obeisance, and give thanks to Jehovah, for good, for to the age <FI> is<Fi> His kindness.

And the king and all the people are sacrificing a sacrifice before Jehovah,

and king Solomon sacrificeth the sacrifice of the herd, twenty and two thousand, and of the flock, a hundred and twenty thousand, and the king and all the people dedicate the house of God.

And the priests over their charges are standing, and the Levites with instruments of the song of Jehovah--that David the king made, to give thanks to Jehovah, for to the age <FI>is<Fi> His kindness, in David's praising by their hand--and the priests are blowing trumpets over-against them, and all Israel are standing.
7
And Solomon sanctifieth the middle of the court that <FI>is<Fi> before the house of Jehovah, for he hath made there the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings: for the altar of brass that Solomon made hath not been able to contain the burnt-offering, and the present, and the fat.
8
And Solomon maketh the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him--a very great assembly--from the entering in of Hamath unto the brook of Egypt.
9
And they make on the eighth day a restraint, because the dedication of the altar they have made seven days, and the feast seven days.
10
And on the twenty and third day of the seventh month he hath sent the people to their tents, rejoicing, and glad in heart, for the goodness that Jehovah hath done to David, and to Solomon, and to Israel His people.
11
And Solomon finisheth the house of Jehovah, and the house of the king; and all that hath come on the heart of Solomon to do in the house of Jehovah, and in his own house, he hath caused to prosper.
12
And Jehovah appeareth unto Solomon by night, and saith to him, `I have heard thy prayer, and have fixed on this place to Me for a house of sacrifice.
13
If I restrain the heavens and there is no rain, and if I lay charge on the locust to consume the land, and if I send pestilence among My people--
14
and My people on whom My name is called be humbled, and pray, and seek My face, and turn back from their evil ways, then I--I hear from the heavens, and forgive their sin, and heal their land.
15
`Now, Mine eyes are open, and Mine ears attentive, to the prayer of this place;
16
and now, I have chosen and sanctified this house for My name being there unto the age; yea, Mine eyes and My heart have been there all the days.
17
`And thou, if thou dost walk before Me as David thy father walked, even to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and My statutes and My judgments dost keep--
18
then I have established the throne of thy kingdom, as I covenanted with David thy father, saying, There is not cut off a man to thee--a ruler in Israel;
19
and if ye turn back--ye--and have forsaken My statutes, and My commands, that I have placed before you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them--then I have plucked them from off My ground that I have given to them,
20
and this house that I have sanctified for My name, I cast from before My face, and make it for a proverb, and for a byword, among all the peoples.
21
`And this house that hath been high, to every one passing by it, is an astonishment, and he hath said, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus to this land, and to this house?
22
and they have said, Because that they have forsaken Jehovah, God of their fathers, who brought them out from the land of Egypt, and lay hold on other gods, and bow themselves to them, and serve them, therefore He hath brought upon them all this evil.'

A long, long time ago, there was nothing at all - no earth, no sky, no animals, no people. It was all dark and empty. But God was there! God is so powerful that He can make anything just by speaking. So God said "Let there be light!" and BOOM! There was light everywhere! God saw that the light was beautiful and good. He called the light "day" and the darkness "night." This was the very first day when God started making our wonderful world!
