1 And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.
2 And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, Bring the men into the house, and slay, and make ready; for the men shall dine with me at noon.
3 And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men to Joseph’s house.
4 And the men were afraid, because they were brought to Joseph’s house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.
5 And they came near to the steward of Joseph’s house, and they spake unto him at the door of the house,
6 and said, Oh, my lord, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:
7 and it came to pass, when we came to the lodging-place, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man’s money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
8 And other money have we brought down in our hand to buy food: we know not who put our money in our sacks.
9 And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.
10 And the man brought the men into Joseph’s house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender.
11 And they made ready the present against Joseph’s coming at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.
12 And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed down themselves to him to the earth.
13 And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?
14 And they said, Thy servant our father is well, he is yet alive. And they bowed the head, and made obeisance.
15 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw Benjamin his brother, his mother’s son, and said, Is this your youngest brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.
16 And Joseph made haste; for his heart yearned over his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.
17 And he washed his face, and came out; and he refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.
18 And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, that did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
19 And they sat before him, the first-born according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one with another.
20 And he took
21 and sent messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin’s mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him.
22 And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men’s sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man’s money in his sack’s mouth.
23 And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack’s mouth of the youngest, and his grain money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.
24 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their asses.
25 And when they were gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?
26 Is not this that in which my lord drinketh, and whereby he indeed divineth? ye have done evil in so doing.
27 And he overtook them, and he spake unto them these words.
28 And they said unto him, Wherefore speaketh my lord such words as these? Far be it from thy servants that they should do such a thing.
29 Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord’s house silver or gold?
30 With whomsoever of thy servants it be found, let him die, and we also will be my lord’s bondmen.
31 And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my bondman; and ye shall be blameless.
32 Then they hasted, and took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.
33 And he searched,
34 and began at the eldest, and left off at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.

10 — And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Saul the son of a Canaanitish woman.
11 — And the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
12 — And the sons of Judah: Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pherez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pherez were Hezron and Hamul.
13 — And the sons of Issachar: Tola, and Puah, and Job, and Shimron.
14 — And the sons of Zebulun: Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel.
15 — These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Padan-Aram; and his daughter, Dinah. All the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty-three.
16 And the sons of Gad: Ziphion and Haggi, Shuni and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.
17 — And the sons of Asher: Jimnah, and Jishvah, and Jishvi, and Beriah; and Serah their sister; and the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.
18 — These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter; and she bore these to Jacob: sixteen souls.
19 The sons of Rachel Jacob's wife: Joseph and Benjamin.
20 And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asnath bore to him, the daughter of Potipherah the priest in On.
21 — And the sons of Benjamin: Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera and Naaman, Ehi and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard.
22 — These are the sons of Rachel who were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.

27 And the sons of Joseph who were born to him in Egypt, were two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob that came to Egypt were seventy.
28 And he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to give notice before he came to Goshen. And they came into the land of Goshen.
29 Then Joseph yoked his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and he presented himself to him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.
30 And Israel said to Joseph, Now let me die, after I have seen thy face, since thou still livest.
31 And Joseph said to his brethren and to his father's house, I will go up, and tell Pharaoh, and say to him, My brethren and my father's house, who were in the land of Canaan, are come to me;
32 and the men are shepherds, for they have been occupied with cattle; and they have brought their sheep, and their cattle, and all that they have.
33 And it shall come to pass that when Pharaoh shall call you and say, What is your occupation?
34 then ye shall say, Thy servants are men that have been occupied with cattle from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers; in order that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.

17 And the sons of Aser; Jemna, Jessua, and Jeul, and Baria, and Sara their sister. And the sons of Baria; Chobor, and Melchiil.
18 These [are] the sons of Zelpha, which Laban gave to his daughter Lea, who bore these to Jacob, sixteen souls.
19 And the sons of Rachel, the wife of Jacob; Joseph, and Benjamin.
20 And there were sons born to Joseph in the land of Egypt, whom Aseneth, the daughter of Petephres, priest of Heliopolis, bore to him, [even] Manasses and Ephraim. And there were sons born to Manasses, which the Syrian concubine bore to him, [even] Machir. And Machir begot Galaad. And the sons of Ephraim, the brother of Manasses; Sutalaam, and Taam. 21 And the sons of Benjamin; Bala, and Bochor, and Asbel. And the sons of Bala were Gera, and Noeman, and Anchis, and Ros, and Mamphim. And Gera begot Arad.
22 These [are] the sons of Rachel, which she bore to Jacob; all the souls eighteen.
23 And the sons of Dan; Asom.
24 And the sons of Nephthalim; Asiel, and Goni, and Issaar, and Sollem.
25 These [are] the sons of Balla, whom Laban gave to his daughter Rachel, who bore these to Jacob; all the souls, seven.
26 And all the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, who came out of his loins, besides the wives of the sons of Jacob, [even] all the souls were sixty-six.
27 And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in the land of Egypt, were nine souls; all the souls of the house of Jacob who came with Joseph into Egypt, were seventy-five souls.
28 And he sent Judas before him to Joseph, to meet him to the city of Heroes, into the land of Ramesses.
29 And Joseph having made ready his chariots, went up to meet Israel his father, at the city of Heroes; and having appeared to him, fell on his neck, and wept with abundant weeping.
30 And Israel said to Joseph, After this I will [gladly] die, since I have seen thy face, for thou art yet living.
31 And Joseph said to his brethren, I will go up and tell Pharao, and will say to him, My brethren, and my father's house, who were in the land of Chanaan, are come to me.
32 And the men are shepherds; for they have been feeders of cattle, and they have brought with them their cattle, and their kine, and all their property.
33 If then Pharao call you, and say to you, What is your occupation?
34 Ye shall say, We thy servants are herdsmen from our youth until now, both we and our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Gesem of Arabia, for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.

32 These men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.’
33 It will happen, when Pharaoh summons you, and will say, ‘What is your occupation?’
34 that you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we, and our fathers:’ that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.”
